Most people join policing with a clear sense of purpose – to protect, to serve, to make a difference.

But over time, fatigue, trauma and daily pressures can make it hard to remember why you joined.

That’s what our short film Purpose is all about – navigating the challenges of the job and rediscovering what brought you into policing in the first place.

This , we're celebrating our much beloved OK9 wellbeing and trauma support dogs – past and present.

When they're out on pawtrol, they brighten up everyone's shift, helping officers and staff meet the challenges of the job.

A big thank you to our brilliant, four-legged superheroes and their humans for the ongoing support of our officers and staff.

The tributes from the families of PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough tell you who these men were. A devoted husband and dad, and a hero who always helped others.

Officers and staff across policing face risk every day and the people who love them carry that risk too, every shift, waiting for them to come home. Two families are now living every policing family's worst fear, and our thoughts are with them, with Matthew and Tom's friends and with every colleague at Cleveland Police grieving two of their own.

Behind every uniform is a person, and behind every person is a family. Policing will not forget them.

In total, seven people lost their lives on Saturday and we are thinking of everyone who loved them.

The wife of PC Matthew Blades, one of our officers who was sadly killed in the collision on the A66 in the early hours of Saturday 22 August 2026, has paid the following tribute to him:

"No words will ever feel like the right words to honour our Matt — my beloved husband, my best friend, and the most devoted father to our two young boys.

"He was an adored son and brother, a perfect son-in-law, and the most fun uncle. He was loved beyond words by all his family and friends, and his loss has left a space that can never be filled.

"He gave his life in the line of duty, protecting and serving others with courage, dedication and selflessness.

"The pain of losing him is beyond words, and our lives will never be the same. Neither will the love he gave us ever fade.

"Our children will grow up knowing what an incredible father he was and will always be, and I will carry his love, his memory and everything we shared with me always.

"He may have left this world committed to the duty he believed in, but his greatest legacy will always be the love he gave to his family.

"We would also like to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all of the emergency services and to our police family who have stood beside us through the most difficult time of our lives.

"The kindness, compassion, love and unwavering support we have received as a family has meant more to us than words could ever express. Every message, visit, gesture of support and every person who has stood alongside us will never be forgotten.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our superhero. Our Matt and Dad❤️"

“Change is needed now, more than ever.”

The results of the biggest ever police wellbeing survey are in. Andy Rhodes, Service Director of the National Police Wellbeing Service, explains why the findings are a national call to action – and how they’ll shape our ongoing work to improve wellbeing across policing.

The latest episode of ResetU: The Podcast explores why so many frontline professionals reach breaking point before asking for help.

A question that's more important than ever. The results of the 2026 Workforce and Wellbeing Survey reveal that 45% of people working in policing say they regularly feel burnt out.

Andy and Nathan are joined by Blue Light Wellbeing founder Hannah Bailey and former professional racing driver Tom Gaymor to discuss why creating trusted spaces is essential to break the stigma around speaking up – and the cultural shift needed across policing to foster environments where people feel safe to ask for help.

Drawing on experiences from policing, elite sport and personal recovery, they also explore why meaningful connection and small daily habits can make all the difference in moving from simply surviving to truly thriving.
