Today is Firefighters' Memorial Day, when we remember and honour all those who have lost their lives while serving their communities.

It's also the day of St Florian, the patron saint of firefighters.

How about this then? As the station was built in 1970 and these appliances were used until the late 1970s this photo is over 50 years old. Who knew our appliances used to be yellow? We'll never know which watch was on duty that day! Thanks to Dean Large for the image.

Crews from Binley and Foleshill will be carrying out an exercise at the hospital Sunday 17th starting at approximately 1000 hours. This should not affect the public.

🚒A fire brigade training exercise will take place at the University Hospital Coventry this Sunday the 17th March starting at approx. 10.00hrs, lasting for around 2-4 hours.

The exercise will practice the fire brigade’s ability to fight a fire in the sixth-floor plant rooms.

Staff and patients may notice a significant number of fire appliances and firefighters around the perimeter of the hospital. Firefighters will also be using some of the hospitals internal staircases and corridors, in particular the fifth and sixth floors of the east wing of the hospital.

Firefighters may also be seen on the roof of the hospital.

The hospital will continue to function as normal during this time. Patients and relatives can still attend / visit the wards and departments as normal.
