Lanchester Interactive Archive Sharing the story of Britain’s ‘Leonardo da Vinci’. Lanchester's genius is brought to life using augmented reality, serious games and even a real car!

The Lanchester Interactive Archive celebrates one of Britain’s greatest engineers and inventors, Frederick William Lanchester
(1868 – 1946). Within Coventry University’s Frederick Lanchester Library the project has created a space where you can view exhibits, and sit inside a Lanchester car, alongside displays giving interpretations of his creations and how they still are in use, or affect, today’

s technologies. Play the digital games to better understand his creations, and see them come to life through augmented reality.

Our Story

The Lanchester Interactive Archive is the largest collection in the world dedicated to British engineer, physicist, mathematician, and entrepreneur Frederick Lanchester (1868 - 1946). The project has created a space on the second floor of Coventry University Library where you can view part of the collection, sit inside a Lanchester car, and explore how his inventions still influence modern technologies through videogames and augmented reality.
