Over the past few years, the Sherbourne Valley Project has worked to improve Lake View Park through active volunteering, events and restoration works. Our efforts have helped to reshape this stretch of the River Sherbourne into a richer, more natural landscape for both wildlife and people. What was once a heavily modified river channel is now a thriving network of ponds, wetlands, scrapes and flowing river habitats.
The changes have made a huge difference. New wetland areas are providing permanent habitats, gravel riffles are creating breeding grounds for fish and aquatic wildlife, and the river is more connected to the surrounding landscape. Together, these features help to support biodiversity, improve natural flood management, and create a more resilient future for the park.
