Last week, the Ryton Pools rangers joined with ecology colleagues to conduct a scheduled meadow survey to assess how our restoration efforts under our Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) scheme are progressing.

A "W" shaped transect was walked, with ten scheduled quadrat stops to asses vegetation cover across the sward. It was good to see a range of species now thriving, including numbers of positive indicator species!

Our fantastic on-site bike hire provider Mercia Cycles- Ryton Pools has teamed up with Mencap to offer three inclusive cycling sessions across Warwickshire’s Country Parks and Greenways, the first of which is taking place this weekend at Ryton Pools! 🚲

Inclusive Cycling Warwickshire parkride sessions offer led rides with trained staff, alongside access to a wide range of adapted and mainstream cycles suitable for all ages and abilities. You can also bring your own bike along if you prefer.

Everybody is welcome, whether you’re new to cycling, building confidence, or simply fancy enjoying a friendly ride in your local community. 🌳

Do you cycle off-road or MTB on Warwickshire’s public rights of way? If you do, Warwickshire County Council wants to hear your views.

The council is working on a new Rights of Way Improvement Plan. They want to hear from off-road cyclists and MTB-ers who use public rights of way to make sure the new plan reflects your views.

A Rights of Way Improvement Plan is an important document for the Rights of Way Service. It sets out what needs to be done so that public rights of way meet the needs of users now and in the future. Your views are important to help shape the priorities and actions in the document.

An online workshop will be held on Monday 6 July at 7pm.

Want to make some extra special memories this Father’s Day? On Sunday 21 June at 11.30am, bring Dad (and the whole family!) to Ryton Pools Country Park for woodland adventures, den building, and gooey, chocolatey S’mores roasted over a crackling campfire.

Slimy, yet satisfying?!🪲🍌

Here’s a couple of snaps from the latest phase of the BeetleBlitz taking place at Ryton Pools Country Park. We’ve just installed the June set of baited pitfall traps to attract beetles using a range of smelly baits including banana, mixed vegetables, meat and fish.

These baits will attract a range of beetles from five carefully chosen habitats. We’re hoping to uncover some new species that haven’t been spotted here up to this point. Once we have a better understanding of what beetles we have on-site, we are better placed to manage our habitats with this in mind.

We’ve had a lovely time catching up on all the photos from our 30th anniversary celebration last week – thank you to everyone who shared your special moments with us. 💚

💚 A whole community coming together to celebrate the past, present and future of our wonderful park.

It was a truly special day for us, and we hope our visitors enjoyed it as much as we did.
