We're so glad Stratford Preparatory School enjoyed their visit - it was fantastic to host such an engaged group of children, who seemed to love learning about the Stone Age through our outdoor activities!

Another smashing effort from one of our corporate volunteering groups at Ryton Pools Country Park!

Rangers Courtenay, George, Wendy and Ben were joined by corporate volunteers from Calor to help improve habitats on Paget's Escarpment. The team worked hard to remove areas of blackthorn and bramble scrub, creating more space for wildflowers to thrive and helping to support local butterfly populations. It's fantastic to see businesses getting involved in practical conservation work and making a real difference to our country parks.

Some more fantastic work from our volunteers at Ryton Pools Country Park!

Our regular Saturday volunteers got stuck in alongside Rangers Francis and Ben as work began on one of several conservation projects around Pagets Pool. The team tackled a particularly thorny challenge, removing dense stands of gorse that had established on the banks of Feeder Pool. This important habitat management work will allow more light to reach the ground, helping native flora to recover, while also improving access for future wetland seeding behind the coir rolls in the area. A great effort from everyone involved, and another step towards enhancing this valuable habitat. 🌿👏

And to think some people think of moths as dull! 🦋

These beauties were caught on camera by rangers Ben and Courtenay: the elm-feeding Dusky Lemon Sallow, the incredible migrant Striped Hawk-moth, and the Scarce Silver-lines.

🌞 Did you know we’ve had a record-breaking summer at Warwickshire Country Parks?

We welcomed almost 280,000 estimated visitors across our sites in July and August, with more than 1,100 people attending ranger-led events and 3,400+ recorded attendees taking part in Park Yoga.

We also hosted the thrilling Queen of the Mountain climb at Burton Dassett Hills as part of the Warwickshire stage of the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women. 🚴‍♀️

It’s been a busy summer for our team, with extreme weather creating some challenging conditions to manage across our parks. We’d like to say thank you to our rangers for all their hard work caring for our parks and wildlife, ensuring visitors can come and enjoy these precious green spaces and connect with nature. And, of course, thank you to our amazing volunteers, Friends Of groups, partner organisations and local specialists, whose invaluable support helps us look after these special places throughout the year. 💚

As we head into a quieter, calmer time at our parks, we hope you’ll enjoy watching the first signs of autumn appear. 🍂 And there’s still plenty going on, with a fantastic choice of seasonal activities to enjoy.

🦋✨ More marvellous moths at Ryton Pools Country Park! ✨🦋

We've recorded some more exciting moth sightings recently, including a new site record of the rare migrant Striped Hawk-moth, along with only the 6th site record of Cypress Pug and the 4th site record of Dusky-lemon Sallow.

It's also proving to be an excellent year for The Sallow, with many already recorded across the site.
