The new date for the PTA Summer Fair is Friday 11th September. This will be non-school uniform in exchange for bottles and sweets.

We look forward to welcoming you after school. A big thank you to the BCPS PTA in their continued commitment to the school and for all the work they do behind the scenes.
They donated money to school last year which had a direct impact, giving children greater opportunities and enhancing curriculum experiences. They are a fantastic group of people who voluntarily support our community. A big thank you from us all!

A message from Mr Mitchell:

As we come to the end of the term, there are a number of staff who are moving on. Mr Ali has been the SENCo here for the past 4 years. His work to support children with additional needs has been greatly valued and he has helped us as a whole school to grow in inclusive practices. He leaves with our gratitude and best wishes.

After 30 years, Mrs Owen is leaving. Generations of families have benefitted from her tireless work for the children and families in early years. He contribution to the school in so many ways is impossible to quantify, including her support for the PTA. She is a legend of Balsall Common and will be greatly missed. We trust that she enjoys a long and happy retirement.

Our CEO, Mr Burgess, is also retiring. He was the fifth headteacher in Balsall Common’s long history and has certainly left his mark on the school, the community and the whole of Central Schools Trust. An inspirational leader, passionate advocate for justice and tireless ambassador for our school, he will be greatly missed. His legacy is secure – a flourishing Trust! He goes with our thanks and best wishes. He has plenty of plans to fill his time and I am sure that he and his family will enjoy this next phase of life.

This will be my final message as the Headteacher of this remarkable school. What a privilege it has been to hold this post. It has been an honour to work alongside the team of staff here in continuing to deliver the very best for the children in our community. I am so grateful for the trust that the governors, staff, parents and children have placed in me throughout my time at Balsall Common. Although I step away from this role, I will be the CEO from September. I will continue to champion the children through my work with the outstanding leadership team here at the school as well as the superb leaders at Damson Wood.

Our Year 6 children are also about to leave. I know that, through their hard work and commitment, each one of them is ready for their next step in education. They will always be part of the BCPS family. We wish them every success in the future.

Have a wonderful summer holiday, when it arrives.

As we are approaching the end of the school year, we would like to ask you to return all reading band books, library books and any school equipment you may have at home. In previous years we have had as many as 25 books returned form one household, there will be no judgement we will just be grateful to have the bookshelves full again.

We would like to thank you for all your support with reading this year. We have had many fantastic experiences across the year for the children regarding reading and their learning journeys and look forward to continuing this next year.
