Last academic year, Aldi invited our pupils be part of their ‘What Healthy Eating Means to You!’ art competition. The winner was yesterday announced… Victoria, 5H took the 1st prize with her Eat the Rainbow artwork. Victoria has received an Aldi £20 gift card and a certificate. A close runner up was Phoebe, now in 1T. A big thank you to all the pupils who handed in their art to Mr Ireland last academic year.
It is encouraging to see children taking eating healthy seriously.

500 Words is the UK's largest story-writing competition for 5-11 year-olds. This year, entries open from Tuesday 29 September and will close at 9pm, Friday 6 November. Thecompetition celebrates children's creativity and imagination and encouraging children from across the UK to create an original story in 500 words or fewer. Spelling, punctuation and grammar are not marked - it's all about our writers’ brilliant creativity!

School Council raised nearly £600 for Macmillan Cancer Charity on Friday!! What an impressive amount! We were blown away by the very generous donations of cake, and a massive thank you to everyone who came and supported. School Council loved the experience and we are so pleased to be able to raise money for a very worthy cause.
Thanks as always. We look forward to doing more for charity!

Do you have green fingers? Would you be able to offer some help in our 'Rainbow Garden'?
We would love some help maintaining our garden and planting some fruit and vegetables with the children across the year.
We are open to any support, either a regular slot or just as and when help can be given.

As we are a few weeks in to the term now we would like to remind anyone who drops off and picks up about the etiquette we aim to establish when driving and parking near school.

As most of you will be aware already, we all try and agree to follow an unofficial one-way system on Asbury and Wilton roads, just outside of our main gate. That is, we ask that everybody sticks to a clockwise circuit of travelling toward school on Wilton Road and then leaving via Asbury Road.

We ask that this is adhered to as much as possible between 8:30-9:00 in the morning and 15:15 and 15:45 in the afternoon.

As you can imagine, anyone going ‘against the grain’ during this time (ie driving up Asbury Road first) is very likely to cause issues that lead to blocked roads and some agitated drivers. Nobody wishes that to happen!

Also, please remember that if you are parking or waiting for your child on these roads at the above times to please be mindful of where exactly you are parking the car. Please try not to block residents’ driveways or park illegally on double yellow lines.

As always, we appreciate your co-operation in this, to maintain good community spirit; not only amongst ourselves as parents and staff but with the local residents also.

Thank you for coming to visit Mr Mayor.

This week, the Mayor joined year 5 pupils at Balsall Common Primary School as they began their Bikeability training, with Cycle to School Week taking place this week across the country. 🚲

The children were learning key cycling skills, including how to carry out safety checks, signal clearly, brake safely and position themselves correctly on the road. Those who complete Level 1 training will move on to riding on local roads with their instructors later this week. 📅

This success builds on Solihull's strong Bikeability record. The latest 2025/26 delivery figures show Solihull Council is the joint second highest-performing local authority in the country, with 86% of Year 5 pupils across the borough taking part in Bikeability training. 🗺️
