Air pollution has improved locally and nationally over the years due to cleaner vehicles on the road and other localised actions being taken.

Other actions we can take together:

Leave your car at home if you can – you could walk or cycle, car lift/share or use public transport
Turn off your engine when waiting outside a school or when stationary
Sign up to Pollution Patrol to learn more about reducing air pollution: https://pollutionpatrol.org.uk/
Visit KentAir to check air pollution levels in your area and sign up to the pollution alert systems we have on https://www.kentair.org.uk/
Visit our online resource ‘Clean Air Academy’ aimed at raising awareness of health impacts of air pollution for the Health Care Practitioners and the public https://cleanairacademy.org.uk/
Use public transport where available – this reduces the number of private vehicles on the roads thus helping to reduce congestion and air pollution levels
If you have a wood burner, we recommend using only dry, seasoned wood with a low moisture content. This produces up to 50% less pollution than wet wood. Stoves should be properly maintained, and chimneys should be swept regularly to ensure efficiency.

Did you know that a carers assessment is not linked to a carer's allowance? If you provide care and support to someone over the age of 18, you may be able to get more help and to look after your own wellbeing.
