Cheshire East residents can now register for the latest round of the successful solar buying scheme, which has already helped over 500 households install solar panels and cut carbon emissions. Delivered through Cheshire East Council, the scheme makes switching to clean, renewable energy really easy.

The deadline for registrations is 4 September. 🌞😎

The Council has been busy this summer working through its road maintenance schedule of patching, microsurfacing and where cost effective to do so, full resurfacing.

Where appropriate, microsurfacing is used as a cost-effective way to maintain our roads, costing around five times less than full resurfacing. The technique protects the road surface from penetrating water, extending its life by up to 5 years, and in some cases up to 7 years. Because of the lower cost, the Council can treat many more roads across the network, keeping them to a good standard.

Even though the Labour government has doubled the funding for road maintenance, it will still take councils many years to work through the backlog.

The new play equipment at West Park in Macclesfield is the largest single play installation of its kind in Cheshire East.

Cheshire East's new Mobile Household Waste and Recycling service launches on 5 September.

The schedule for the visits will be as follows:

Congleton – First Saturday of the month (morning)
Macclesfield – First Saturday of the month (afternoon)
Wilmslow – 2nd Saturday of the month (morning)
Poynton – 2nd Saturday of the month (afternoon)
Middlewich – 3rd Saturday of the month (morning)

Slots can be booked up to 30 days in advance.

The new food caddies are being delivered until mid-September across the borough.

When you receive your container, keep the leaflet for reference, add your house number onto the sticker provided and attach it to the lid. Keep your container safe until the food collections start. Thank you!

Cheshire East Council is taking a stronger stance against environmental crime, with increased penalties designed to deter fly-tipping and littering.

Before paying someone to remove waste from your property, always check they have a valid waste carrier licence - the Environment Agency holds a database which can be checked online.

More positive news for Cheshire East Council as work begins on the new Handforth Market Village site. Supported by Homes England funding, the new community will have local access to new education facilities, community spaces, jobs, green infrastructure, leisure opportunities and public open spaces, all within a nature-led design.

Importantly, proposals to establish an investment partnership would mean Cheshire East Council has the opportunity to share in the long-term financial returns from the development too.
