🚒 WHAT A TEAM. WHAT A CREW. WHAT A FEW WEEKS IT’S BEEN… 🔥

From the middle of July through to the end of August, the crew at Crickhowell Fire Station have attended 98 fire calls.

Wildfires, RTCs, SSCs, barn fires, refuse fires — and plenty more in between. At times, it has felt like we’ve barely had time to catch our breath before the next call comes in.

And it’s important to remember that we are an on-call crew. Every one of those 98 calls has been attended alongside our normal full-time jobs, family commitments and everyday lives. Leaving work, getting out of bed in the middle of the night, or dropping whatever we’re doing to respond to the pager is simply part of being an on-call firefighter — but over the last few weeks, the frequency and duration of those calls has really tested the crew.

Multiple calls in a day, long periods away from home and the uncertainty for families of not knowing when we’ll be called, where we’ll be going, or how long we’ll be away has certainly made this a challenging period for the crew.

But throughout it all, the crew has really pulled together.

We’ve split crews, covered days and nights, changed plans at short notice and shared the workload wherever possible to help take some of the pressure off each other. It’s been a real team effort, both at the station and at home.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last few weeks.

🤝 Our neighbouring fire stations and fire service partners — including crews from South Wales, Manchester, London and Cumbria, along with our colleagues in the Army. It has been fantastic working alongside you all.

📞 Our control room staff — working behind the scenes throughout some incredibly busy periods, taking calls, mobilising crews and helping keep everything moving. Your hard work and support are hugely appreciated.

🚜 Local farmers, contractors and businesses — including GT Jones — who have provided equipment, assistance and invaluable support when we’ve needed it.

❤️ And finally, our local community.

The food, drinks, snacks and all the other thoughtful gifts that have turned up at the station have genuinely meant so much to the crew. Those small gestures make a huge difference when people are tired, hungry and heading back out for yet another call.

Most importantly, thank you for understanding when we’ve been away from our families, for supporting us and for continuing to look out for your local fire service.

98 calls is a huge amount of work for an on-call crew — but we’ve faced it together.

From all of us at Crickhowell Fire Station — thank you. ❤️🚒

Supporting One of Our Own ❤️🚒

On Wednesday night, a devastating fire seriously affected the home of our Group Manager, Phil Morris, and his family.

We want to show our support for Phil and his family as they face the incredibly difficult days ahead. They have lost virtually everything and are now facing the huge task of rebuilding their lives.

Phil has spent so much of his career helping others when they need it most. He has also been a great friend, colleague and supporter to the crew at Crickhowell Fire Station over the years. Now it’s our turn to stand behind him and his family.

A JustGiving page has been set up to help with immediate essentials and support them through this difficult time.

If you can donate, no matter how small, it would mean a huge amount. If you can’t, simply sharing the page would help enormously. ❤️

🚨 LLANGATTOCK – GARNLYDAN ROAD B4560 UPDATE 🚨

The road from Llangattock to Garnlydan is now OPEN.

There will still be smoke in the area, and the mountain/grass fire will continue to smoulder, with hot spots occasionally flaring up. 🔥

The Fire Service is aware and crews are regularly monitoring the area.

Please do not call 999 unless you believe there is an emergency or an immediate risk to life/property. Your cooperation helps keep emergency lines available for those who need them most.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. 🚒

🔥PLEASE DON’T START
FIRES ANYWHERE 🔥

With the current dry conditions, we’re asking everyone in our community to please think twice before lighting bonfires, BBQs, fireworks or any other outdoor fires.

What may seem like a small, controlled fire can quickly spread and become extremely difficult to control — putting people, property, wildlife and our local countryside at risk. 🚒🔥

Our fire service is already stretched, with crews responding to a high number of incidents and ongoing fires across the area. Every avoidable fire puts additional pressure on our crews and resources.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously around areas at risk of fire, please report it to the Police by calling 101. If you believe a fire is being deliberately started or there is an immediate danger, call 999.

Please help us prevent unnecessary incidents, keep our crews available for those who genuinely need us, and protect our countryside. ❤️🚒

Thank you for your support.

🚒🔥 WHAT A WEEK FOR THE CRICKHOWELL CREW! 🔥🚒

22 calls in just one week. 🚨

From RTCs and automatic fire alarms, to multiple days dealing with ongoing mountain fires, it’s certainly been a busy week for the crew at Crickhowell.

Our firefighters are currently continuing to support the ongoing mountain fire above Llangattock/Llangyndir, with crews being rotated regularly to provide relief and keep firefighters fresh and operational.

It’s been a huge commitment from our on-call firefighters, giving up their evenings, nights and weekends to respond when they’re needed — alongside their normal jobs and family commitments.

A massive thank you to our families, friends, employers and the local community for your continued support and understanding. ❤️

Your support allows us to keep doing what we do and be there for our community when it matters most.

22 calls.

One committed crew.

🔥 It’s been a busy few weeks for the crew at Crickhowell Fire Station! 🚒

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hard at work tackling mountain fires in Llangattock, Blaenavon, and, most recently, Hanter Hill, Kington. 🔥

Alongside these incidents, we’ve also responded to automatic fire alarms 🚨 and provided standby cover in Brecon and Brynmawr, helping to ensure fire cover remained available across the area. 🤝🚒

A huge thank you to all of our dedicated crew for their commitment, professionalism and teamwork, and to our families for their continued support, patience and understanding. Their encouragement and sacrifices behind the scenes make it possible for us to answer the call whenever our community needs us. 💙
