Ever thought about volunteering with the RNLI ?

As part of Volunteers’ Week, you are invited to an online event about what it’s really like to volunteer with the RNLI, from operational roles through to fundraising, water safety, shop volunteering, and more.

It’s taking place on Wednesday 3rd June at 6pm

It’s an opportunity to:
⚓ Hear directly from current volunteers
⚓ Ask questions in an informal setting
⚓ Find out about the wide range of opportunities available
⚓ Learn how you could make a difference in your community

You don’t need previous experience, maritime knowledge, or lots of spare time, there are many different ways to get involved and support saving lives at sea.

If you, a friend, colleague, or family member might be interested, we’d love to see you there. Current volunteers are also welcome to join and bring a friend!

We do have some roles at Cromer for Boat and Shore Crew so take a look below:

On June 8th Cromer Pier celebrate its 125 birthday 🎉

RNLI Cromer has had a lifeboat station at the end of Cromer Pier since 1923, although there has been has lifeboat station in the town since 1804.

Our public gallery will be open during the day on June 8th ** so if you are in Cromer please come along and see us as part of the North Norfolk District Council Pier celebrations!

** The public gallery will be open from 11am to approximately 7pm

We hope to see you there!

This year, we’re celebrating an important milestone for one of the region’s most recognisable landmarks. Stretching 140 metres into the North Sea, Cromer Pier has been a focal point for the town and wider North Norfolk area for 125 years. It was opened on 8 June 1901 and cost £17,000 to build.

☀️ With warm weather forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend and half term, we’re expecting lots of people to enjoy the beautiful beaches around Cromer.

Please remember that although the air may feel warm, the sea temperature is still around 15°C and cold water shock remains a very real risk. Entering cold water unexpectedly can affect your breathing and ability to swim, even for experienced water users.

Our beaches can also be uneven underfoot, with stones and pebbles in places, so please take extra care, especially near the waterline and on slipways.

If you see anyone in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

RNLI lifeguards are now back on duty at Cromer and Sheringham beaches — please see our featured post for patrol times and details 🏖️

And don't forget if you get in trouble in the water 'Float to Live' - follow the link for more details:

If you’re in Cromer this weekend, why not come along and watch our All Weather Lifeboat launch on Sunday morning at around 9.30am 🚤

Plus our shop will also be open daily throughout half term from 11am–3pm.

Stay safe and enjoy the coast this weekend 🌊

It was great to welcome back to the lifeboat station local Norfolk artist Joan Johns who is a longstanding supporter of the RNLI.

Joan personally dropped in her £450 donation to the lifeboat station last month
and met with our volunteer Jane from our shore crew and visits team.

Joan, who lives in Diss, raised the money by using her pictures to create a calendar raising funds for the RNLI and her message to our volunteer crew was: “ thank you for all the good work you do when we are tucked up in our bed and you’re battling the sea”

As a charity we rely on support from people like Joan - and it is appreciated by each and everyone of us here.

So from everyone at Cromer RNLI - thank you Joan 💙

Today we celebrate our volunteer Kevin Johnson who has successfully passed out as coxswain on the all-weather lifeboat.

Additionally Kevin celebrates his 10 years of volunteering with the RNLI at Cromer next month.

Kevin has been a key and much-valued volunteer throughout his time at the station, and we are very proud to share his story:

As we approach the Easter Bank Holiday weekend we are expecting lots of visitors to our coast to enjoy our beautiful beaches and coastal paths.

Our Lifeboat Station and shop will be open to the public between 11am and 3pm daily over the Easter holidays and our volunteer crew will be launching the lifeboat on Sunday morning at around 9.30am for training.

So pop along if you are in Cromer. **

As you enjoy our coastline and while you are out and about to keep safe, we recommend that you:

* check weather forecast and tide tables
* carry a means of calling for help
* keep dogs on lead on coast paths
* wear a buoyancy aid if kayaking/SUP boarding
* if you end up in the water unexpectedly, float to live
* call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you see
anyone in difficulty.

Whatever your plans - Happy Easter from all of us here at Cromer RNLI 💙

** Our opening hours and launches are always subject to our volunteer availability, operational needs and weather conditions.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we want to thank all of the women at Cromer RNLI - from our boat crew, shore crew, tractor drivers, launch authorities, press officer, admin officer, to our visits team, shop and our fundraising Guild. We also thank the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters who support all our volunteers.

For over 200 years, women have saved lives, launched lifeboats and raised money to help keep the RNLI afloat and today we say recognise their contribution.

Here are just a few pictures of some of our amazing women here at Cromer 💙
