This week is Baby Loss Awareness Week, and this has got us thinking in more detail about the layout of the new baby grave area to be set up in Cromer Cemetery. This will be a small area of the cemetery where babies and children up to the age of two years old are laid to rest. We are awaiting designs and quotations for an appropriate bench to be placed by the new burial area, where families can sit and remember their little ones.
Traditionally, the layout of graves are in rows but we would like people's thoughts on whether perhaps a curved layout would be preferred. We are also suggesting that the closest row of graves in the adjoining burial section be set aside for the parents of the babies to reserve for their own future burial if they wish.
The Town Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk are attending an upcoming bereavement training session with SANDS and hope to get further advices via them too.
