📢 Planning Committee Meeting – Your Village Needs You

The planning application for up to 74 new homes on land east of Claydon Road will be considered by the Cherwell District Council Planning Committee on:

Representatives from Cropredy Parish Council and Keep Cropredy Rural will be speaking on behalf of our community.

If you have objected or approved to this application, or if you have concerns about the impact it could have on our village, please consider attending the meeting.

While only registered speakers can address the committee, a strong public turnout sends a powerful message. Decision-makers notice when a community cares enough to be there. This is your opportunity to show that the level of opposition expressed online and in submitted objections is reflected by real people willing to stand behind their views.

🚫🐶 Please remember: NO DOGS are allowed inside the children's playground.

It doesn't matter whether your dog is friendly, well-behaved, on a lead, or whether you always pick up after them. The playground has clear signs stating that dogs must not enter under any circumstances.

This rule exists to protect children's health. Dog faeces can carry harmful parasites and bacteria, including roundworms (Toxocara), E. coli, Salmonella and Campylobacter. These can cause serious illness and, in rare cases, permanent damage to eyesight or other health problems.

Children play on the ground, touch the grass and equipment, and often put their hands near their mouths. Even when poo has been picked up, traces can remain in the grass and soil where children play.

This is not about whether a dog is "good" or "bad". It is a public health issue, and the rules are there for everyone's safety.

Please respect the signs and help keep the playground a safe and healthy place for all children.

🍻 Could You Be the Next Heart of Cropredy Sports & Social Club?

Volunteer Bar Manager Wanted

Our wonderful Sports & Social Club is looking for someone to gradually take over the role of Volunteer Bar Manager.

You'll work alongside our current Bar Manager, David Cherry,to give you plenty of time to learn the ropes before taking over for a three-year term.

This is much more than looking after a bar – it's about being part of the team that helps keep one of Cropredy's most important community hubs thriving.

What does the role involve?

🍺 Keeping an eye on stock levels
🚚 Ordering beer from Hook Norton and managing deliveries
🛒 Occasional shopping trips for supplies
📅 Organising volunteer bar rotas and keeping everyone updated
🎉 Helping with events and stepping in when needed
🎸 Supporting bar operations during Fairport Cropredy Convention
🔐 Looking after bar security
💷 Working with the Treasurer to manage cash and payments

Do I need experience?

Previous experience is helpful, but not essential. Full support and training will be provided, and you'll have plenty of time to learn from David before taking over.

🌿 Fancy helping keep Cropredy looking lovely? 🌿

We’re looking for a few volunteer grass heroes to help mow certain spots around the village. Don’t worry, the Parish Council provides the mower and the fuel… we just need your time, your leg power, and maybe a tolerance for slightly wonky tan lines. 😄

It’s a great way to get outside, help the village, and secretly judge everyone else’s mowing technique.
