Sussex Police realise that not everyone who experiences sexual violence is ready to report it to the police and have introduced ‘telling not reporting’.

If you decide to tell the police without making a report, they will keep a record of what has happened, but respect your wishes and only ask for more information if it’s absolutely necessary. They won’t pursue the incident further or act without your say so.

✅Why ‘tell not report’?
Sussex Police state that, 'by telling us what happened it could help keep you and other people safe. While we won’t begin an investigation, it does tell us vital information such as locations that could be a risk to others. It also helps us to understand overall safety, to help us make the right decisions about things like where neighbourhood officers or PCSOs patrol. However, all information you share will be treated with the highest levels of confidentiality'.

⚠️Changes to train times from Tuesday 1st September: Uckfield and Arun Valley routes

The prolonged spell of hot and dry weather means Network Rail is introducing temporary speed restrictions between Oxted and Uckfield, and Horsham and Barnham. This means fewer trains will be able to run, as they will take longer to complete their timetabled journeys.

For full details, please tap the link below to our website. The main changes are:
-Some trains between London and Uckfield will be replaced by buses between Crowborough and Uckfield. You may also use Southeastern services between London and Tonbridge or Thameslink between London and Haywards Heath instead, as Uckfield route tickets will be accepted.
-London Victoria-Portsmouth Harbour/Bognor Regis services will not split/join at Horsham. They will call at all stations between Horsham and Bognor Regis, and customers to/from Portsmouth via Chichester will need to change at Barnham instead.
-There will be fewer trains between Barnham and Bognor Regis.
-The weekday peak hour return journeys between London Bridge and Bognor Regis via Littlehampton will not run.

We know you rely on our services every day for work, school, appointments and important time with family and friends, and are truly sorry for the disruption these changes may cause. The revised timetable has also been designed to minimise the impact on customers wherever possible, including protecting key services used by schoolchildren travelling to and from school. It will help keep remaining services more reliable, and ensure the safety of the railway which is our absolute priority.
