Coastguard response to severe flooding in Monmouth, South Wales, as Storm Claudia hit on Friday and into the weekend.
A total of 37 Coastguard rescue officers — including a flood specialist from the Croyde team - supported Wales emergency services in an ongoing multi-agency operation.
Between 14–15 November, Coastguard flood teams worked with South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Welsh Ambulance Service and Gwent Police to answer 999 calls, carry out hundreds of welfare checks, and complete over 150 rescues.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the flooding.

🚨TRAINING🚨

On Thursday, the team participated in a training exercise in Croyde. It began with a search to locate the casualty, and once the casualty was found, the team got hands-on with casualty care and carried out a rescue using our stretcher.

Great effort from everyone involved! We train every week to practice our skills for real-life situations.

In recent days, the area management team has requested that our team conduct local patrols along the beaches after the lifeguards have finished their shifts.

We have been engaging with the public and providing safety advice when needed.

Additionally, we continue to respond to numerous calls for assistance.
