Northumbria University are currently piloting Tech Hubs across the North East, friendly spaces where people living with memory problems, and those who care for them, can explore technology in a relaxed and supportive environment.

They aim to develop Community Tech Hubs that help people living with dementia discover and access technology that can genuinely improve everyday life. To do that, they're trying to better understand the barriers people face when using technology, as well as the kinds of support that work well in practice.

💙 THANK YOU TO OUR AMAZING WATCH HOUSE VOLUNTEERS 💙

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped raise an incredible £2,325 for the future of the Watch House this weekend as part of the Cullercoats Festival.

Whether you gave your time serving, baking, preparing food, welcoming visitors, or helping behind the scenes, every contribution made a difference.

Our fantastic volunteers:
Joyce J, Liz, Pat M, Josie, Gill, Simon, Lorna, Christine, Frank and Maureen Bell.

Our wonderful bakers:
Brian (our pie man!), Joyce W, Peter Kendal, Barbara and Elsie.

Helping with both preparation and the event itself:
Mick, Pam, Tess, Pat W, Cath, Yvonne, Ollie, Alison T, and John.

Beaches and Cream, who donated a cake.

And last but certainly not least, a special thank you to Sandie, one of our regular Monday visitors, who was a tremendous help at Fish Quay.

Your generosity, hard work and community spirit continue to make the Watch House such a special place. Every pound raised helps secure the future of this important local heritage building for generations to come.

It's Volunteer Week 💙

We are incredibly grateful for all of our Watch House volunteers and everything they do.

From sharing the story of our beautiful building, to fundraising, baking, welcoming visitors, helping at events, carrying out maintenance, and so much more—every contribution makes a difference.

Every single volunteer, trustees included, gives their time freely, generously, and with a genuine passion for preserving and supporting the Watch House.

Thank you all. We truly couldn’t do it without you. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and support are at the heart of everything we achieve.

We know you’ll be missing our wonderful Watch House while we’re closed, so here’s a way to get your Watch House fix in the meantime!

Why not explore some of the other fascinating Watch Houses along this fabulous trail, created by one of our very own Cullercoats Watch House volunteers, Alicia Ward.

Alicia has done a wonderful job showcasing the rich heritage, history, and local links that connect these unique coastal landmarks. It’s a fantastic opportunity to discover more about our maritime past and the communities that helped shape it.

A huge thank you to Alicia for this fantastic piece of work and for helping to keep our local heritage alive for everyone to enjoy.

How many spiders???

A little video taken on a recent authorised visit to the Watch House site. Everything is stripped back, the door has been moved, and the next stage is new electrical work and plastering. It hasn't been without its problems, but the team have solved them and it's all moving on.
