This Saturday, 28th March we have Moira, Diffusion Textile Artists, and Allan, writer, visiting us. They'll be talking about an exciting art/writing project that we can take part in.

We are a small group of Textile and Mixed Media Artists. We share processes and ideas and work towards exhibiting our art publicly.

We had a great day yesterday launching the Cumbernauld Community Poem for the New Town's 70th Anniversary at Cumbernauld Creates at Palacerigg.

Members of the Writers' Group created the poem from lines given to us by the public. Everyone who contributed has at least one line in there! English, Gaelic and Scots are included. The poem shows how much the town, its green spaces, history and people are appreciated. We plan for it to be used in other anniversary celebrations in the coming months.

At the open mic, readers also shared some of their own work.

Congratulations to Bob, Su, Patricia, Liz, Bob and Anne who brought the poem alive.

The Group won't meet in the library this Saturday 14th because we'll be at a festival at Palacerigg.

We'll be reading our Community Poem for the New Town's 70th anniversary. at the open mic starting 11am.

Why not come along and join us tomorrow morning 11am to 1pm in the Town Centre library?
Amy Devlin from Cumbernauld Creates will be chatting to us about the festival she and Palacerigg Community Trust are putting together in March.
We'll be constructively critiquing pieces we're working on and writing from a prompt associated with Valentine's Day.
New writers, experienced writers, want to find out about writing - all very welcome.

This Saturday 26th October we have Alison Gray coming to the Writers' Group to talk to us about editing.

This will be an interesting session so everyone welcome. If you have someone who would be interested in Alison's talk but who doesn't usually come along to the group, then feel free to invite them on Saturday.

Look forward to seeing as many of the group as can make it.

Alison has been editing since 2007. She began with academic copy-editing, then moved into fiction and finally began working as a developmental editor of fiction, non-fiction, and narrative non-fiction.
She works with publishers, editing agencies, journals, and individuals. Several of her books have been shortlisted for book awards. And one of them, Alison says, won!

Alison is a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the co-ordinator of the Glasgow group. She is also an approved partner member of the Alliance of Independent Writers (ALLI).

Alison is qualified through the Publishers Training Centre (PTC), CIEP, Club Ed, and Liminal Pages.

She is a published writer in fiction and non-fiction, a performed playwright, and a winner of the Scottish Book Trust's New Writers Award.
