💷 A large quantity of money was seized during the operation

🚔 A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing criminal property in connection with the distribution of drugs

🎃👻 Keeping Our Community Safe This Halloween and Bonfire Night 🎆

PCSOs from Maindee NPT have been out and about with Newport City Council Community Safety Enforcement Officers, visiting local businesses and delivering Operation Bang posters and Halloween safety posters. 🤝

This partnership working helps us engage with local businesses, raise awareness and support efforts to reduce antisocial behaviour during the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

As we head into the seasonal celebrations, we'd like to remind everyone to have fun, stay safe and be considerate of others. 🎃✨
✅ Attend organised firework displays where possible
✅ Use fireworks responsibly and follow safety guidance
✅ Respect local residents, businesses and public spaces
✅ Never throw fireworks or other objects at people, vehicles or property
✅ Help keep our communities clean and safe by disposing of litter responsibly
✅ Report antisocial behaviour and any concerns to us

By working together, we can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and enjoyable Halloween and Bonfire Night. 👏🎆

This week, Pill NPT 🚔 conducted an multi agency walk about. This was aimed at checking areas in Pill that have previously been used for bonfires, on the run up to Halloween 👻 and bonfire night 🔥 .

Gwent Police were supported by Newport City Council, Housing associations and South Wales fire and Rescue Service 🚒 .

Advice was given to residents whilst the walk around was being conducted.

Also, 5 persons were given Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) warnings for Anti-Social Behavior on Francis Drive. Alcohol was seized and persons moved away from the area ✅

ℹ️ During the operation they located in excess of 13,000 illegal ci******es in a vehicle 🚬

🤝 This is a great example of partnership working in action, helping us disrupt criminal activity in Newport

👮🏻‍♂️ Today have been conducting patrols as part of across Bettws, Malpas & Shaftesbury.

ℹ️ This operation focused on tackling anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and off road bikes based off issues raised by the community and intelligence-led policing. As a result:

✅ Large quantity of cannabis seized.
✅ 1 x Illegal e-bike seized.
✅ 1 x Sur-Ron bike seized.
✅ Large quantity of money seized.
✅ Several mobile phones seized.
✅ Multiple stop searches conducted.
✅ 1 x Community Resolution issued.

‼️ Investigations are on-going while officers complete the relevant enquiries.

🚓☕ Our PCSOs in Newport East have been busy out and about engaging with the community this week! 😊

We started the day at Eveswell Primary School, where we conducted Heddlu Bach interviews with pupils who had applied for these important roles. 👮‍♀️ We were incredibly impressed by the children's confidence, thoughtful answers and fantastic questions throughout their interviews. Well done to everyone who took part! ⭐👏

We then joined residents at Summerhill House for our monthly coffee morning. ☕💬 These sessions are a great opportunity to chat, share information and discuss topics that matter to our communities. This month we talked about the different ways you can contact the police and how to identify anti social behaviour.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us. We really enjoyed our day and look forward to continuing to work closely with our communities.

❗A flat in Maindee has been boarded up following reports of anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.

🤝 We've responded to residents’ concerns and worked with partners to secure a closure order on the property in Prince Street.

📍Newport Magistrates' Court granted the closure order, for a period of three months, on Monday 19 October.

PC Julie Morris, a crime and disorder reduction officer (CADRO) in the Newport East neighbourhood policing team, said:

💬"We hope this closure order reassures residents in the Maindee area and beyond that we are listening to your concerns, and demonstrates our commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour, illegal drug use and safeguarding our communities.”💬

🗓️ During the period of this order, which expires on Monday 18 January 2027, anyone who attempts to enter this flat will be committing a criminal offence and could be arrested.

📱Anyone with concerns about ASB or other criminality in their community, please contact us so we can act.

UPDATE: The road is back open again; thanks for your patience and understanding.

We received a report of a road traffic collision in Tregare Street, Newport, at around 7.45am on Tuesday 20 October.

Officers attended along with crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service and the collision involved a school bus and a railway bridge.

Three children have sustained injuries and will be attending hospital for treatment; their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
