❗ We will continue to seize vehicles and prosecute drivers who are treating our roads like a race track.

🚔 The driver of this Ford Focus thought the unmarked police vehicle was 'racing' them on the M4...

👎🏻 The vehicle reach speeds of 137 MPH, which is simply not acceptable.

👤 23 year old male from the Swansea area has been reported to court for travelling at excess speed.

🪝 The vehicle was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

🚔 Officers from the Roads Policing & Specialist Operations team attended the Caldicot 999 Emergency Service day last weekend, alongside Gwent Police - Monmouthshire Officers

🗣️ Numerous people came over to interact with us, and it was great to show everyone our vehicles and discuss what our vehicles are capable of.

🤝🏻 Thank you to the organisers for inviting us and hopefully we will see you all again next year.

🫡 Rest assured that whilst officers were at this event, it did not effect day-to-day resourcing, with roads policing officers still responding to incidents across the force.

🚨 The Government have made recent changes to police powers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, which is used to deal with vehicles being driven in an anti-social manner.

⚠️ There is now no longer a requirement for police to issue a warning to drivers using their vehicles in an anti-social manner or in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance.

❗ Police are now able to seize vehicles immediately, without first giving a warning. This is intended to help officers tackle anti-social vehicle use more quickly and prevent repeat offending.

👇🏻 The Roads Policing & Specialist Operations team have already put their new powers to good use, after they observed this vehicle drifting around a roundabout, next to a primary school in the Thornwell area.

🙃 Not only was their driving dangerous, but an inspection of their vehicle showed; 3 tyres were below the legal limit of 1.6mm; some tyres had not been fitted corrected with the inner wall being driven on the outer; and a defective handbrake.

👤 The driver, a 21-year-old male from Chepstow, has been reported to court for:
1️⃣ Dangerous driving
2️⃣ Driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition

🪝 The vehicle has been seized and no longer poses a risk on our roads.

PD Rizzo assisted Gwent Police - Newport Officers in the early hours following a report of a burglary in progress.

RPSO Team 1 (East & West) working together, Rizzo was deployed to locate the suspects.

After a search of the site, 3 persons were located, detained and arrested.

Stolen property recovered and the offenders 🚙 siezed

Lando had a busy set of night shifts, assisting Caerphilly Central officers with a variety of incidents across the force.

One particular incident involved a robbery, where excellent teamwork across all teams ultimately led to the successful arrest of the offenders.

RPSO, Fi****ms and Team Lando worked together, utilising vehicle tactics, drones and PD Lando to locate the suspects. Believing they had managed to hide themselves within the forestry, the subjects were unaware that the drone had located them.

With the assistance of the drone, PD Lando was deployed to approach and detain the subjects. Once PD Lando introduced himself, the suspects quickly decided that it was time to surrender.

A great example of teamwork, effective tactics and the value of Lando in bringing incidents to a safe and successful conclusion.

✅ Vehicle Seized

Roads Policing Officers have recovered a vehicle in Cefn Fforest following reports of anti-social behaviour and being driven on false registration plates . The vehicle has now been seized and investigations are ongoing.

Team Lando had a busy shift last night.

Dad used some spikey thingy 🦔 to assist RPSO in a pursuit of a vehicle on the A465, to reduce the speed of a fleeing vehicle.

Later in the shift, PD Lando assists Caerphilly North officers with a burglary where a car was stolen with keys
Officers located the vehicle abandoned.

Lando joined the chase and tracked through woodlands, housing estates and up to the rear gate of an address. The suspects were very surprised to find Lando staring back at them through the open patio door!

The vehicle was located, suspects in custody and only an hour.after it had been taken

❗This is the moment a disqualified driver rammed a police vehicle during a pursuit in Newport at around 1.45am on Wednesday 1 July.

❗Brian Butler, 58, accelerated in his black Nissan Juke when officers on patrol ordered him to stop, reaching speeds of up to 75mph as he drove dangerously on Chepstow Road.

❗Despite being boxed in by a police car as he entered a cul-de-sac on Clement Attlee Drive, Butler rammed his way out and drove off.

✅ However, Butler’s Nissan was later abandoned near Fenner Brockway Close and he was discovered by Police Dog Rizzo hiding face down in a garden.

📍 Butler, of Radnor Road in Newport, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday 6 August after previously pleading guilty to driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and criminal damage.

PC Michael Sharman, the officer in the case, said:

💬 “This is a reminder to everyone who gets behind the wheel – you must be properly insured, hold a valid driving licence, and are responsible for the safety of everyone around you or our roads policing unit will apprehend you and put you before the courts."💬

STOLEN ATV RECOVERED – TWO ARRESTED 🚨

Yesterday morning, RPSO officers were alerted to a Polaris ATV stolen from a farm in Hereford.

With TPAC tactics authorised, officers worked quickly to safely intercept the vehicle after it had collided with several members of the public across four police force areas.

Gwent officers rapidly picked up the trail and tracked the ATV being loaded into a garage in the Merthyr area.

Two men attempting to flee on a quad bike were swiftly detained outside the premises and arrested on suspicion of burglary offences.

Inside the garage, officers located another quad bike also suspected to be stolen. One suspect admitted the vehicles were stolen once he realised the game was up.

Great teamwork across forces and another solid result in keeping our communities safe. 👏
