Come and join us this June for three fun-filled family adventures in the woods with the MIPSA project. These sessions are specially for primary-aged children who have a parent currently serving in the Armed Forces. No unaccompanied children. Come to as many sessions as you can.

Together we’ll explore, create, play and enjoy time outdoors with activities inspired by nature. Sessions will be outside where possible with an indoor space available in case of poor weather. A relaxed way to spend quality time together, enjoy nature, meet others, play games, get creative and try new activities.

Children need to be with a parent or carer and siblings are welcome – but do let us know how many will be coming. Refreshments will be provided.

Led by Forest Leaders from Communities Lifelong Learning and Employability we are running these sessions in partnership with The Army Welfare Service and funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
Where? Wooded area near Scots Corner Centre
When? Thursday 4th, 11th and 18th of June from 4pm to 5.30pm

• Structured employability skills training
• Career-focused mentoring across multiple sectors
• Practical experience that can strengthen CVs and support job applications

Volunteers will:
• Develop transferable skills (teamwork, communication, problem-solving)
• Gain confidence working in a large-scale event environment
• Build networks and connections with other volunteers and organisations
• Access a well-rounded work experience offer combining training and real-world application

The programme is particularly targeted at young people and underrepresented groups, helping them access opportunities that can be difficult to obtain, such as work experience.

Overall, the initiative aims to create a lasting legacy of skilled, work-ready young people, supporting progression into employment, education or training, while contributing to a high-profile, community-based event.
