Work being carried out by GTC between 11th - 22nd May adjacent to the Spar / Post Office and Gorseywell Lane.

There are some works planned 11th to 20th May to excavate and install a gas main for the Morris Homes housing development. This will take place on the pedestrian footway between the A56 canal bridge and Hill Top Road.

We aim to post this to all addresses within the Parish with help of volunteers, as well as on social media and the website. We appreciate there will be a lot of strong views in both directions on the topics contained within it and the Parish Councillors have tried to respond to the strength of feeling on various subjects.

Dates of the Parish Council meetings are also listed within the newsletter covering the next 3 months, so you can book a slot to speak, or email any comments to the Clerk.

⚠️ Proposed Stopping Up and Diversion of Highway - Footpath No 5 and 6 ⚠️

Halton Borough Council has applied to North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court for an order under Section 116 of the Highways Act 1980 to stop up and divert a section of parish footpaths. The application is being made at the request of the landowner as the current route weaves into farmyard causing confusion for pedestrians and a potential conflict with vehicles.

A56 Chester Roadworks

BT Open Reach will be carrying out New Service Connection works on 08/04/26 which will result in traffic control / multi way signals. This work is marked down as being carried out on the western side of the A56 canal bridge.

Tree Felling Notice

The Parish Council understands how important our green spaces and trees are to the community, and we do not take the decision to remove a tree lightly.

Following a well publicised and discussed inspection by a qualified tree specialist, it was found that the tree opposite the spar remains in poor health and poses a potential safety risk to residents and visitors.

Given the current weather conditions to ensure the safety of everyone who uses this area, and to prevent possible damage to nearby property, the parish council has agreed that the tree must be safely felled. Signage and safety tape will be going up over the weekend . This work will be carried out by professional contractors in line with environmental and safety guidelines.

We appreciate that this tree may hold sentimental value to members of our community. As part of our commitment to preserving the local environment, the Parish Council will replace the tree with a new planting / explore opportunities to enhance the area with new greenery including a large planter shortly to be installed so that future generations can continue to enjoy our shared spaces.
