A reminder that the 2026 Yorkshire Cadet Trust Photography Competition is looking for entries from cadets and adult volunteers across Yorkshire and the Humber.

This year’s theme is “Cadets is great fun”, so dig through your camera roll or get out and capture the moments that show what cadet life is really about.

Flying, fieldcraft, sport, camps, adventure training, shooting, STEM, friendships or those moments that just make you smile. 📷

And there’s a great incentive for your unit, with prizes of £250, £150 and £100 up for grabs!

RAF St Mawgan 2026

Check out these pics from last week's camp!

So, 49 cadets and staff headed off to RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall for a whole week, and you can totally tell from these photos that everyone had a blast.

For some of them, it was their very first camp ever!

They worked very hard and did the organisation proud.

Super proud of Team 10405A finishing 5th in the overall rankings and placing 3rd in the Skills Test after day 1 at the National VEX finals. The team got knocked out in the Quarter Finals but they should be very proud of the work and effort put in over the past year. Season 3 planning has begun!!! 405 (Darlington) Squadron RAF Air Cadets is officially open for our upcoming Autumn 2026 Intake, and we're looking for both Cadets and Adult Volunteers to join the 405 family!

We offer local young people unforgettable experiences and give adults a chance to mentor, lead, and make a real difference in Darlington.

Cadets (Ages 12–17, Year 8+)
Flying & Gliding: Take to the skies with air-experience flights in RAF aircraft.
Adventure & Skills: Fieldcraft, shooting, camping, cyber security, and STEM projects.

Qualifications: Earn your DofE awards, recognised BTECs, and real leadership experience.

Confidence & Community: Build self-confidence, make lifelong friends, and stand out on future applications.

Adult Volunteers (Ages 20)
No military background needed — full training and support provided.

Choose a role that fits your life: instructing activities, uniformed staff, or supporting behind the scenes with admin and logistics, or our Civilian Committee.
