📱 Follow-up appointments now available through our NHS App!

We’ve gone live with a new digital feature through our Patient Engagement Portal (PEP) for patients on a Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) pathway.

Patients can now request their follow-up appointment through the NHS App, rather than calling our booking teams.

This gives patients greater choice, convenience and control when managing their care and hospital appointments. 💙

The feature is currently being trialled in Gynaecology, with plans to share updates as it becomes available across other services.

💙 Shining a spotlight on our Discharge Lounges

Last month, we shone a spotlight on the important role our Discharge Lounges play in helping patients safely and smoothly leave hospital.

As part of our first Love Your Lounge Month, we highlighted the Discharge Lounges at Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham, helping patients, families and colleagues understand what they are, how they support discharge and what patients can expect.

For many patients, the Discharge Lounge is the final stop on their hospital journey while they wait for things such as medication, discharge information, transport or collection by family and friends.

The lounges provide calm, welcoming spaces where patients continue to be cared for, supported and kept informed while those final arrangements are made. 🏡

The campaign also encouraged patients and families to think ahead about getting home, including transport, suitable clothing and footwear, and any support they may need once they arrive home.

A huge thank you to our Discharge Lounge teams and everyone who helped us Love Your Lounge! 💙
