Tune in to Chris Kaye's Breakfast show on BFBS Catterick at 0815hrs tomorrow (Wednesday 7 October) to hear an interview with our very own Director of Music!

Captain Johnson will be talking about our forthcoming Play Day, what it is like to be in an Army Reserve band, and what the Army Reserve can offer to musicians.

🎶 PLAY DAY - REGISTRATION CLOSING SOON! 🎵

There’s still time to join us for our Play Day! 🎶 Registration for the Royal Signals (Northern) Band Play Day at Catterick Garrison on Sunday 18 October closes at the end of the day on Wednesday 7 October.

If you’re a brass, woodwind or percussion player and have been thinking about coming along, now’s the time to get your registration form in! We also have space for bass guitar.

The day will give visiting musicians the chance to rehearse and perform alongside the Band, meet our musicians and find out more about opportunities in Army Reserve Music.

We have a fantastic music programme for the day - take a look below to see what we’ll be playing. 🎺

Places are limited and will be allocated after registration closes, with priority given to musicians interested in potentially joining the Band.

🎺 Good luck to WO2 Smith and Cpl Thomas at the National Finals tomorrow! 🪊

As Army Reservists, many of our musicians are also involved in bands outside the Army Reserve. Tomorrow Band PSWO, WO2 Smith (tenor horn), and Cpl Thomas (Eb bass) will be taking to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall with Desford Colliery Band for the Championship Section Final of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain!

This year is an especially exciting one, as Desford Colliery Band return to London as defending National Champions following their win in 2025 🏆

They will be competing once again against some of the finest brass bands in the country - and we’ll be cheering them on from Darlington. Very best of luck for tomorrow! 🎶💜

We are very excited to release the music programme for our upcoming Symphonic Wind Play Day at Catterick Garrison on Sunday 18 October 2026!

Please see the attached graphic for more information - attendees can expect a varied and challenging selection of music, from Big Band, via Yorkshire-themed Dances, to Philip Sparke!
