It was both a privilege and a pleasure to welcome everyone at today's first 'Recovery Festival' in our wonderful town.
The festival was a vibrant celebration of recovery from addiction, building community and promoting support.
Bringing together local residents, partner organisations and people with lived experience, this highlighted the positive impact of recovery and the many pathways that lead to it.
It was an honour to sign the inclusive Recovery Cities Charter alongside inspiring speakers.
The festival was hosted by Recovery Connections, part of the STRIDE partnership and I would like to extend my own personal thanks to all those involved in getting us to the point we are at today.

Yesterday it was an honour for my consort Tom Nutt and myself to be part of another wonderful citizenship ceremony.
It was our privilege to welcome 16 new British citizens and their guests along with Deputy Lieutenant Pam Royle, Hgh Sheriff
Arnab Basu and Leader of the council Steve Harker.
We are so pleased that our new citizens have chosen Darlington and it's surrounding areas as their hometowns.

It was my pleasure yesterday to open The Garden Room, a beautiful cafe serving a variety of delicious refreshments.
Having known the proprietor for many years I always knew they would accomplish something very special.
I would highly recommend a visit to this welcoming, friendly cafe and a cuppa with cake is a must.
Also pooches can enjoy a puppicino in the outdoor area.

On Saturday my consort and myself hosted our Club Tropicana themed event at our wonderful Quoits Club in Darlington.
We had a fabulous time spending time with our lovely guests whilst enjoying fantastic live entertainment.
We would like to thank our Quoits Club and its wonderful committee and members for their support and advice and use of the club and to all of the dignitaries from across our region for your valued support.
Thank you Just Good Friend's newly formed singing group and Sophie and Ethan for your music set, you were all absolutely superb
and helped to make the day even more specisl.
Also thank you to my family and friends for your support with setting up and displaying and serving refreshments.
The themed cake created by a friend and guest was a great centerpiece.
Again we would like to thank all involved for their support, kindness and company.
The event raised over £800 for my chosen charities, The Northern Lights Community Choir and St Teresa's Hospice.

It was a pleasure for my consort and myself to attend the institution and induction service as Reverend Miriam Wakefield was welcomed as the new vicar of All Saints' Church at Blackwell by The Bishop of Durham, community partnerships and members of the community.
The evening was filled with celebration and joy and following the service it was lovely to chat with others.

On Sunday my consort and myself attended the Patronal Festival & Civic Service at St Clare's Church, Parish of Great Aycliffe.
Thank you to the Mayor of Great Aycliffe for our invite as we enjoyed a wonderful service and met and chatted with the lovely Mayoress, the amazing community and guests from surrounding areas.

Could not be prouder of my Dad as he carried out the Stockton to Darlington Railway Walk along with and supported by wonderful friends.
A few words from my Dad:

Six of us set off from the 1825 Old Ticket Office in Stockton at 0800 on Sunday 9th August. Two old friends Doug and Fred, and three new friends Niall, Francis and Mike We learned so much about each others lives on our journey to raise funds for the Mayor of Darlington's Good Causes Fund. Good natured banter all the way despite a couple of hours light rain, before arriving at Hopetown Darlington at 14.20.

Thanks to the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockton, the Mayor and Consort of Darlington and my good friend Philip Boyle for setting us off on our way, and to all those who met us at the finish.

Feeling a little achy and sore today but it was definitely worth the effort for the good causes to which you are still able to donate to.

Such an honour for my consort Darrien and myself to start and take part in the LGBTQ+ Pride Festival March.
Following the march it was lovely to chat with our wonderful community and visit the many great stalls and participate in craft activities.
The stage speakers and acts were fabulous and a vibrant wave of colour filled our amazing town.
Well Done Darlington and everyone involved.
