We are delighted to announce that Dartmouth Caring has been awarded £67,541 over two years through the Macmillan CARE Grants Programme, with our project commencing on 1 July 2026.

Our project, “Empowering Dartmouth: A Shared Decision Making Framework for Cancer and Palliative Care Across the Community,” will be led by our Palliative Care and Cancer Specialist Liaison Nurse, Andie Day, supported by Palliative Care Nursing Associate Kim Forsyth.

The project will support people living with cancer or receiving palliative care, along with their carers, to feel informed, supported and actively involved in decisions about their treatment. It will ensure that each person’s individual wishes, circumstances and what matters most to them remain central to every stage of their care.

Working in partnership with Dartmouth Medical Practice, District Nursing teams, Oncology and Palliative Care services at Torbay and Derriford, as well as patients, carers and the wider community, the project aims to strengthen communication between services, reduce the inequalities faced by those living in rural areas and provide more coordinated, personalised support.

We are extremely grateful to Macmillan Cancer Support for funding this important work, which will enable Dartmouth Caring to further develop cancer and palliative care support within our local community.
