We would like to share an important reminder with all families of students at the college. We have noticed an increase in instances of unkind behaviour between students. While many of our young people continue to demonstrate excellent conduct, it is important that we address this proactively as a community.

At Dawlish College, we are very proud of our core values:

• Be kind and polite
• Be safe
• Follow instructions

These values underpin everything we do and help to create a positive, respectful environment where all students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

We are reinforcing these expectations in school, however, your support at home is vital in helping us embed these messages. We would appreciate it if you could take some time to speak with your child about the importance of kindness, respect for others, and the impact that words and actions can have.

We know that working together with families makes a real difference, and we are confident that we can continue to nurture a caring and respectful school community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Megan competed at the England Schools Athletics event at Exeter arena in the South West Devon team.

Megan won her heat so qualified for the final, where she came 3rd place in the final, and also met the qualification standard for England Schools which is the final round in Birmingham for the Devon Team. She ran another PB of 12.19 for the 80m hurdles. Selection took place this past Monday and with only 40 spaces available, it was a tense time but she was selected.

We are over the moon for Megan and wish her the very best in the next round in Birmingham on the 10th and 11th July. Well done Megan!

Sports Day Cancellation Notice

Due to the forecast of extreme weather conditions we have been having this week, we have made the decision to cancel Sports Day on Friday 26th June. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain our highest priority, and we believe this is the most responsible course of action.

We understand that many students were looking forward to the event and appreciate everyone's understanding. Any information regarding a possible rescheduled date will be communicated in due course.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Year 8 Design Technology students have just completed their textiles project with Ms Belworthy. They made some fabulous cushions based on their favourite snacks or invented their own. They demonstrated their abilities in both hand and machine sewing, as well as their design skills.
Well done Year 8!

Area Athletics Action!

Dawlish College hit the track at Exeter Arena for our annual athletics championship organised by the brilliant Mrs Chantry.

We took 36 students from Year 7-10 to compete against 14 other schools in the schools annual athletics championships.

The students did not disappoint and were model students throughout the event.

ALL competitors deserve a big round of applause for their efforts and attitude during this day - they were a credit to the school.

We would like to mention a few individual performances -
All 6 of our 100m athletes placed in the strong finals - with Jack coming 1st and achieving an area record with 11.9s, Scarlet 2nd, Lily 4th, Mia, Junior and Prince coming 5th overall.

Holly came 7th in the 200m Inter girls race and Ella 6th in the 300m.

In the 400m Joe came 2nd and Logan 4th in the finals.

Davi, Hollie and Ella competing in the finals for 200m and 300m.
Anna placed 2nd in the 1500m.

In the hurdles we smashed the finals - Leo coming 1st, Lexi coming 4th who had never jumped a hurdle before the event and Megan achieving a PB and coming 2nd.

Molly came 2nd in Javelin, Edison 3rd in High jump, Moss 4th in Long jump, Leo 1st in Triple Jump and Megan 2nd in Long jump.

5 of the 6 relay teams earned a place in the relay finals with the Inter girls fighting hard to achieve 2nd place, Year 7 girls 4th, Year 7 boys 6th, Junior Boys came 2nd and Inter boys came 6th.

Overall we did really well and the girls Inter team came 2nd out of 14 schools.

Massive congratulations to all competitors that took part.

This weekend we have the Devon Schools Athletics Championships where we have Megan, Jack, Scarlet, Taylor, Molly, Anna and Jamie competing from the college. Best of luck for this weekend!
