πŸ‚ Welcome to Self-Care September πŸ‚

This month is a great reminder to put your wellbeing on the priority list. Self-care doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's the small things that make the biggest difference.

✨ Plan something you enjoy
Set aside time for a fun or relaxing activity, whether that's taking a walk, reading a book, meeting a friend for coffee, gardening, or simply enjoying some quiet time. Put it in your calendar and treat it as an important appointment with yourself.

πŸ’› See yourself through someone else's eyes
Ask a trusted friend, family member, or colleague what strengths they see in you. Their perspective might remind you of qualities you've overlooked and help boost your confidence.

🌱 Let go of other people's expectations
Take a moment to reflect on what truly matters to you. Give yourself permission to step away from unrealistic expectations and focus on living in a way that aligns with your own values and needs.

Remember, self-care isn't selfish. Looking after yourself helps you show up as your best self for the people and things that matter most.

πŸŽ‰ Dawlish Celebrates Carnival Week πŸŽ‰

As the real countdown has began, Dawlish Town Council would like to wish the organisers of Dawlish Celebrates Carnival and their wonderful volunteers a truly fantastic week.

Although the event is not organised by Dawlish Town Council, we are proud to have provided financial support through a grant to help make this year's week-long celebration another huge success for both locals and visitors alike.

A tremendous amount of hard work goes on behind the scenes to bring such a fantastic programme of events to our community, and we would like to thank everyone involved for their dedication and commitment.

Be sure to check out the Dawlish Celebrates Carnival website or programme to find out more about the daily events taking place throughout the week. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

We hope you all have a wonderful Carnival Week! 🎭🎢🎑✨

Details of the forthcoming hosepipe ban below πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

From 00:01am on Saturday 8 August, we'll be introducing a hosepipe ban, for all our customers in Devon, Cornwall, parts of Dorset and Somerset and the Isles of Scilly.

The decision follows one of the driest periods in recent years, with rainfall across the South West remaining well below seasonal averages over many months, and leading to the Environment Agency declaring half of England, including the South West, in drought.

This means that you must not use hosepipes to:
πŸ‘‰ Water your garden
πŸ‘‰ Clean your, car, patio or driveway
πŸ‘‰ Fill a paddling pool, swimming pool or hot tub
πŸ‘‰ Clean walls, paths or windows

You can still carry out many of your usual activities but we ask that everyone please use water carefully during this period of drought to help protect our environment and water resources.

If you're on the Priority Services Register, a Blue Badge holder or on our WaterSure Tariff, exceptions apply. Visit the link above to find out more and read our full FAQs.
