🐾🌿 Litter picking helps to protect the wildlife on our doorstep

This , let’s remember that any piece of litter dropped on the ground can have consequences for animals and the natural world.

From plastic and food waste to discarded fishing line, litter can injure wildlife, pollute habitats and threaten biodiversity.

We can all do our bit to protect the environment we share with wildlife. 💚

A new solar-powered digital sign has been placed on Deal Seafront to give daily updates during the bathing water season - the sign will display any pollution risk forecasts, helping you to make informed decisions about swimming.
Ready for next spring, the new display is sited in the Beach Street car park and is active from 7am to 10pm from 15 May to 30 Sept, with a daily update at around 9am.
It shows any Pollution Risk Forecast for the area, confirming if there is ‘no pollution risk forecasted today’ or ‘swimming not advised’.
The Pollution Risk Forecast is a system run by the Environment Agency during the bathing water season to warn the public when short-term pollution or an event like heavy rainfall or tidal conditions is likely to affect water quality.
The new e-sign is alongside the existing water quality noticeboard, which continues to display bathing water data.
The digital sign has been installed by DDC, with funding from Southern Water, and updates from the Environment Agency.
