Having a place that feels like your own. Someone around when you need them. Learning to manage the everyday stuff and having opportunities to think about what comes next.

Nobody has adulthood completely figured out at 18.

Learning to cook, manage money, get yourself to appointments, make decisions and work out what you want to do next takes time.

Most young people have family around them while they figure those things out.
For young people living in supported accommodation, that need for time, encouragement and someone to turn to doesn't disappear.

At Oasis, we want young people to have the chance to learn at their own pace — trying things for themselves, getting things wrong sometimes and knowing support is still there when they need it.

Well done! 👏

A big congratulations to one of our young people who has completed Weapons Awareness Training.

The training helps young people understand the risks and consequences associated with carrying weapons and supports them to make safer, more informed choices.

Taking part, engaging with the sessions and completing the training is something worth recognising.

Getting the chance to experience a real workplace can make a big difference.

It gives young people a chance to see what a job is actually like, meet new people, try something different and work out what they might enjoy doing.

Sometimes they come away thinking, “I could see myself doing this.”
Sometimes they decide it's definitely not for them.
Both are useful.

At Oasis, we want young people to have opportunities to explore the world of work for themselves, not just talk about it.

For some young people, it starts with working out what they actually enjoy doing.

Trying something new. Learning practical skills. Getting some experience. Finding out what they're good at, and sometimes discovering what definitely isn't for them.

At Oasis, preparing for adulthood includes supporting young people to explore education, training and employment opportunities that make sense for them.

There isn't one route that suits everybody.

Sometimes it's about helping a young person find theirs.
