Three men have tragically lost their lives following a fire in a single-storey building in White City, West London.

The cause remains under investigation, and it is important not to speculate. However, this devastating incident raises serious fire safety questions.

Was there an appropriate fire strategy?

Had a suitable fire risk assessment been completed and acted upon?

Was automatic fire detection provided?

Were adequate escape routes available?

Did the people inside know what to do in an emergency?

This is a sobering reminder that no premises is too small or simple to require proper fire safety planning.

A year on from completing this shopping centre security upgrade, it’s great to see the system still performing exactly as intended.

This project involved retrofitting and upgrading the existing CCTV and intruder alarm systems, providing the site team with improved coverage, better image quality, and greater control over incidents as they happen.

One of the standout features is the combination of high-resolution overview cameras covering the car park and PTZ cameras that allow security personnel to quickly zoom in and investigate activity when required.

Good security isn’t just about recording incidents. It’s about giving the people responsible for the site the information they need to make decisions in real time.
