Now the autumnal weather has arrived and things are getting a colder, drying the washing isn't as easy!

Stay safe and avoid drying clothes on or close to electric heaters❌

🔥Heaters and open fires may be a cosy way to keep warm, but place clothes well away from the heat to reduce the fire risk if you must use them.

It only takes one accident to start a fire so test your smoke alarms regularly too to make sure you're given vital early warning should a fire occur

At our annual awards ceremony last week, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service honoured 34 employees who have achieved 20, 30 and 40 years of long service and good conduct.

With the Service having responded to the largest incident in its history at Tintwistle Moor this year, the event was a timely opportunity to recognise the professionalism, resilience and teamwork shown by colleagues across the Service alongside the partners who supported our efforts.

Congratulations to all those recognised and thank you for helping us make Derbyshire safer together.

Did you know? Even hard-wired smoke alarms need replacing! 🔥

It’s easy to think they’ll last forever, but smoke alarms — including hard-wired ones — should be replaced every 10 years to ensure they work when you need them most.

Check your alarm or the instructions to determine the date of manufacture. If it’s over 10 years old, it’s time for a new one!
