Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Mental health, children's and learning disability services. Page monitored 9am-5pm Mon-Fri. Members receive regular updates on our news and upcoming events.

As a Foundation Trust we are required to build a membership which is as representative of the community we serve as possible. Local people are invited to become a member of the Trust, to work with us to provide the most suitable services for the local population. They are also represented by a Council of Governors. We have a clear vision for the Trust, underpinned by objectives that serve as the b

asis for decision making and forward planning. Our vision and objectives guide us in how we balance the interests of patients, the local community and other stakeholders. The Trust has a Board of Directors, sometimes known as the Trust Board. This Board has a responsibility to make the best use of financial resources and deliver the services people need, to standards of safety and quality which are agreed nationally. Inclusion is important to the Trust and we are one of the only mental health Trusts in the country to be led by a Chair and Chief Executive from the BAME community. We are a friendly, values driven Trust and put our people first in the knowledge that an engaged and empowered workforce leads to good patient care. It’s a good time to join Team Derbyshire Healthcare – we are growing, with lots of exciting new developments and investment in local mental health services.

75% of our colleagues say the Trust is a good place to work or receive care. According to our staff survey we are one of the best trusts of our type, with active staff networks. We have a good mix of services; inpatient and community, children’s universal, perinatal and many more. We take the wellbeing of our colleagues seriously, champion staff engagement and have an ongoing programme of staff reward and recognition. Our main inpatient sites are Kingsway Hospital in Derby, the Radbourne Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Derby, the Hartington Unit based on the Royal Derbyshire Hospital site in Chesterfield – with teams across the whole of the county. We provide Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Derby city. In Learning Disability services which we provide in Derby, we have recently formed an alliance with Derbyshire Community Health Services to lead across the county. We’re also actively involved in work across the system and region; to ensure that the NHS continues to improve the delivery of services across the patch to the communities we serve. This week, Derbyshire Healthcare will join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.

Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our own incredible volunteers, including our Governors, League of Friends and EQUAL forum.

Your kindness, commitment and support make a meaningful difference across our services!

Today (29 May) marks one year since patients and colleagues moved into the Carsington Unit – a 54-bedroom adult acute mental health inpatient unit for working-age adults, based at Kingsway Hospital in Derby. It includes three wards (Dove Ward, Robin Ward and Wren Ward), with single en-suite bedrooms and modern therapeutic spaces to support recovery.

Earlier this year, we also marked a year since the opening of the Derwent Unit (a 54-bedroom adult acute unit for working-age adults at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital site) and Bluebell Ward (an older adult inpatient mental health ward at Walton Hospital, Chesterfield).

A massive thank you to everybody who supported the moves, opening and delivery of our new model of care. Feedback on the new facility has been overwhelming positive from patients, colleagues and carers, including “It’s great that the new unit is all about giving patients choices and more independence while they are here.”

Tactile knitted vegetables, packs of seeds, shells, books and even toys can all be found in a set of memory boxes put together by librarians at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The boxes have been launched during Dementia Action Week and are available for occupational therapists to use with their patients. The team is looking for donations of items to boost their boxes, particularly from different cultures or faiths. If you have anything to donate, you can contact them on [email protected]
