The week builds on Derby’s growing green initiatives like the Home Energy Advice Service, food waste recycling rollout and new urban greening projects.

Free events will bring together residents, schools and community groups, including:

✔️ Chaddesden Eco Fair, Saturday 6 June, 11am – 3pm, St Phillips Church
✔️ Blagreaves Warm Welcome Café, Tuesday 9 June, 10am – 12pm, Newmount Church

St Peters Quarter Derby and Cathedral Quarter Derby will be hosting events across the city centre throughout the week. Check their websites and socials for more information!

Workshops in Normanton and Arboretum schools will also help young people learn more about sustainability and community action.

Community group Greener Littleover has also been inspiring families through its own “Great Little Green Week”.

🚨DARLEY ABBEY MILLS BRIDGE🚨
Over recent weeks, the bridge structure has deteriorated significantly. Despite the danger, people are still forcing access to the fenced-off site.

The risk of collapse has significantly increased. Should this happen, the bridge will pose a severe risk to life and threaten vital local infrastructure. For everyone's safety, 24/7 security is now stationed on the village (west) side of the bridge.

Our sole focus is keeping you safe. Please:

🛑 DO NOT force access to the bridge under any circumstances.

🚷 STAY CLEAR of the fenced-off site.

🚫 DO NOT enter the water near the bridge or the weir.

We are using emergency powers to protect our community. Please don't take unnecessary risks.

We will update this post with further updates. Read the full story on our Newsroom.👉https://orlo.uk/Iwb6d
