Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and connected to the people and places they know.

Across Derby and the East Midlands, foster carers are urgently needed to help children stay close to their schools, friends and communities.

When you foster, you become part of a wider support network, with guidance every step of the way from social workers and fellow foster carers.

Could you make a difference to a child's life?

It takes a community to raise a child and right now, our community is needed more than ever.

Across the East Midlands, local councils are urgently looking for foster carers to help keep children close to:
🏫 Their schools
👫 Their friends
🏡 Their communities

When you foster, you’re not doing it alone.

You become part of a wider community that includes:
🤝 Social workers
👨‍👩‍👧 Other foster carers
💬 Ongoing support and guidance

Together, we can make sure no child feels alone or far from home.

One community. One safe home. One life changed.

Could you be part of it?

Your local authority will support you every step of the way, contact Foster for East Midlands Councils, call 03033 132950 or visit https://fosterforeastmidlands.org.uk/

We’re proud to share Derby’s participation in a recent event celebrating regional fostering partnership working across the East Midlands.

The event brought together Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council as part of the Foster for East Midlands Councils partnership.

A focus of the day was the shared pledges made by all partners to strengthen foster carer recruitment, improve local support, and ensure more children and young people can remain connected to their schools, communities and support networks.

Cllr Hezelgrave, Derby Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Skills made a pledge during the event, reaffirming continued commitment to supporting foster carers and helping deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people in care.

This joint commitment reflects the power of working together to create lasting, positive change across our region.
