Warning Unsafe Plaster/Render

Just to let everyone know the plaster/render off this building has fallen, probably due to seeping rain into the building. Thankfully no one walking by, I have been out immediately to cone it off. I donโ€™t know who the owner of the building is and the business occupying is not open. I strongly advise to walk around the coned area, please be careful when navigating with vehicles too. Iโ€™m trying urgently to see what I can do to make it safe for pedestrians but being a bank holiday I suspect this could be a challange.

I will be notifying the police to see if they can reinforce with police tape.

12:00 PM โ€“ UPDATE: I tried to contact Derbyshire Building Control, but their offices are closed just so they can give advice on what protections we need on the highway. Another nearby business has already reached out to the occupier as we know they donโ€™t own the building, hopefully, they can urgently get someone on-site to make the area safer.

12:30 PM โ€“ UPDATE: 24-Hour Emergency Highway Services at Derby City Council is going to strengthen the closure with additional cones and signs. The issue is currently unlikely to be resolved until after the Bank Holiday weekend. The safety of all pedestrians is vitalโ€”we can't afford the risk of falling render hitting anyone.

๐ŸŒป THIS SATURDAY โ€“ A SPONDON TRADITION GOING BACK OVER 160 YEARS! ๐ŸŒป

This Saturday, 22nd August, the Spondon Horticultural Society Annual Flower & Vegetable Show returns to the Vernon Arms.

The show has, in one form or another, been a Spondon tradition since the 1800s and, to this day, remains a popular Spondon event!

Local amateur gardeners, bakers, crafters and photographers can get involved, with free entry to the 56 categories available. Entries to be made between 10-12.30 on the day.

But you donโ€™t have to enter anything to enjoy the evening! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿšช 6.30pm - Doors open
