“This Sunday at 12.30pm, the LGBTQ+ flag will be raised at the Sawley Community Flagpole to mark the start of Pride Month, celebrated every June. This is a visible show of our commitment to equality, and a celebration of the diversity and inclusiveness within our community. In the lead-up to Armed Forces Day on 28th June, the Armed Forces Day flag will also be flown here, as a mark of respect and support for our service personnel and veterans.”
Councillors Cheryl Pidgeon and Harry Atkinson will hoist the flag, supported by other councillors & residents.

As plans for local government reorganisation advance, it’s very likely that Erewash Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council will cease to exist, making way for a new Unitary Authority that will be based in either Derby or Matlock. In line with these developments, Sawley Parish Council has changed its name to Sawley Community Council — effectively taking on the role of the Local Council.
The name change will not result in any financial implications as any existing signage will only change when required to be replaced. The website, along with internal documentation will be amended in due course.

Long Eaton & Sawley Foodbank are in the process of adopting the new Trussell logo and during the crossover, you may see the familiar logo on Foodbank posters and collection points or you may see the new one as shown.
You can be assured both are for the local Foodbank and your donations are still coming to Long Eaton and Sawley Foodbank to help local people facing hunger and hardship.
Thank you.

“Congratulations to Anne‑Marie, Manager of Sawley Co‑op, who has just marked 25 wonderful years working at the store! True to her nature, Anne-Marie didn’t want any fuss made – but we simply couldn’t let such a special milestone pass without saying a huge thank‑you. Over the years, both Anne‑Marie and the Co‑op have given incredible support to countless local groups and good causes right here in our community. Thank you, Anne‑Marie – and thank you, Sawley Co‑op – for everything you do for us all.”

• Exact location: e.g. outside number 30, between numbers 38 and 40, or opposite number 23

Congratulations Harry, on a wonderful and successful year as Mayor of Erewash – you’ve truly done both Sawley and Erewash proud.

Alongside all your official duties, you always made time to support local organisations and good causes, and despite your very busy schedule, you attended Parish Council meetings regularly and kept us all well informed.

We very much look forward to continuing to work with you in the weeks and months ahead
