Simon Foote Architects is pleased to announce that planning has been approved for this exciting new house in the Derbyshire countryside!

Our design maintains a charming rural aesthetic, resembling a long barn with a dual-pitched slate roof and stone exterior when viewed from the public road. The house uses the natural land levels and steps down the hillside, integrating seamlessly with the landscape, minimizing visual impact in this special landscape area.

The internal layout has been guided by capturing breathtaking views, with the day-to-day living space located on the elevated upper level, while the lower ground floor accommodates bedrooms, ensuites, and a large underground garage that offers discreet parking and a gym.

Nestled in a small Derbyshire village surrounded by beautiful countryside, Simon Foote Architects proudly presents this stunning contemporary home.

Designed with an ‘upside down’ internal layout the upper level allows the day to day living spaces to embrace the views whilst the bedrooms being on the ground floor ensures they keep cool and shaded whatever the season.

The cuboid form brings the opportunity to place light wells to be anywhere within the plan, flooding natural, even light into the open spaces on both floors. This creates a bright and airy atmosphere throughout. The owner’s impeccable taste and eye to detail encouraged a striking, intricately designed staircase that winds around a vast double-height zoid, leading up to the living areas on the top floor.

We couldn’t be happier with the project.

We are thrilled to announce that our design team is set to bring this extraordinary 6 bedroom property to life, as tender packages are rolling out in July!

Nestled amidst the picturesque Derbyshire Countryside, this home offers breathtaking vistas and a design that blends natural materials and light with the surrounding landscape.

Located on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage buffer zone and surrounded by historic woodland. Navigating the intricacies of the planning process that such a site offers, was a challenge that we’re all too familiar with at Simon Foote Architects.

Drawing inspiration from the undulating landscape, the design embraces bright, airy living spaces arranged around a welcoming courtyard, inviting you to absorb the splendour of Derbyshire’s countryside views.

Externally, the design pays homage to Derbyshire’s rich heritage with natural stone walls and a blue slate tiles roof, while the contemporary central glazing captures the expansive vistas.

The client involvement and collaboration has been integral throughout, culminating in the realisation of their long-held vision – a dream project for all involved.
