Philip McKinney attended the vigil at the Guildhall in Derry to honour the memory of Amy Doherty and all women who have lost their lives to violence.

This was a powerful moment of solidarity, reflection and support for families affected. No woman should live in fear, and no family should have to endure such loss.

The Alliance Party of Northern Ireland stands firmly for women’s safety, dignity and rights. We will continue to support efforts to end violence against women and girls in our communities.

Philip McKinney visiting a resident regarding damp concerns

During a recent visit to a local home, Philip McKinney met with a resident who has been experiencing ongoing damp problems inside their property.

As shown in this video, there are visible issues with the guttering and drainage around the roofline which may be allowing water to enter the building. Problems like this can quickly lead to damp and mould, affecting both the condition of the home and the wellbeing of those living there.

Philip has documented the situation and will be raising the matter with the relevant housing and maintenance teams to ensure the issue is properly investigated and addressed.

Everyone deserves to live in a safe, dry and well-maintained home, and we will continue working with residents to make sure their concerns are heard and acted upon.

If you are experiencing similar issues, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Philip.

Today, Philip McKinney visited a local resident who has been experiencing ongoing damp problems in their home.

During the visit, it was clear that damaged and blocked guttering around the roofline may be allowing water to pe*****te the property, contributing to the damp conditions inside. Issues like this can significantly affect both the comfort and health of residents, and it is important that they are addressed quickly.

Philip has taken photos and videos of the issue and will be raising the matter with the relevant housing and maintenance teams to ensure the necessary repairs are carried out.
If you are experiencing similar housing or maintenance problems in your area, please feel free to get in touch with Philip. He is always keen to support residents and help ensure homes are safe and properly maintained.

Everyone deserves to walk safely in their own community.
But on Rossdowney Road, this footpath has become unsafe due to overhanging branches and moss buildup — forcing people with mobility aids dangerously close to the road.

After being contacted by a resident, I visited the location myself and saw the risks firsthand. No one should be put in this position.

This needs immediate attention, and I’ll be pressing for action to ensure this route is made safe and accessible again.

If you or someone you know is facing similar accessibility concerns, please let us know.

Today, we're celebrating the achievements of women across NI and the rest of the world, whilst recommitting ourselves to the fight against misogyny, and continuing to break down the barriers women face in all areas of public life.

We had a busy day Alliance Party - Foyle yesterday.

Danny Donnelly was down and started our day off speaking with ARC Fitness - Addiction Recovery Coaching, Gary took the time to talk about Addiction Recovery, the need for investment in our mental health and addiction strategies.

We then met with Aspace2 Day Opportunities. Aspace2, they showed their amazing plans to grow their space. We spoke with centre users about disability rights and were treated to a wonderful lunch at their restaurant which is open to the public.

Then we sat down with Foyle Haven Depaul Homeless to talk about the need for more wrap around support for people who find themselves homeless.

And finally Danny met at our office with NW Disability Forum to talk about the UNCRCPD.

Thank you to all who hosted us yesterday, the work these groups do is amazing and so needed.

We definitely got a real sense of collaboration in our Community and Voluntary sector that needs to be replicated throughout all our services!
