At Foyle Women's Aid, we know that domestic abuse isn't always visible. Many women experience coercive control, emotional abuse, financial control, and intimidation behind closed doors. Raising awareness of these forms of abuse is vital in helping survivors recognise what is happening and access the support they deserve. Together, we can challenge harmful myths and help ensure that home truly means safety. 💜

During , we can all play a part in challenging myths and sharing the truth about domestic abuse.

This week, we're tackling some of the most common misconceptions. Share our posts and help spread the message that .

❌ Myth: Domestic abuse is always physical.

✅ Truth: Domestic abuse can take many forms. It can include coercive control, emotional abuse, threats, sexual coercion, financial abuse, and digital monitoring or isolation, even when there is no physical violence.

🌟 A huge thank you to Orla Bradley for her incredible support of Foyle Women’s Aid! 🌟

Orla took on the amazing challenge of a 15,000ft skydive and raised an incredible £1,420 through her fundraising efforts. Her bravery, dedication, and generosity will make a real difference in supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.

🌷 Flower Seeds & Bulbs Needed! 🌷

Foyle Women’s Aid is looking for donations of flower seeds and bulbs to help brighten up our outdoor spaces and create a welcoming environment for the women and children we support.

If you have any spare seeds, spring bulbs, or flowering plants that you would be willing to donate, we would be extremely grateful. Gardening can be a wonderful way to promote wellbeing, build confidence, and create beautiful shared spaces.

📣 Volunteer with Women’s Aid! 💜

Last Tuesday, our amazing volunteers represented Foyle Women’s Aid at the NWRC Freshers’ Fair, helping to raise awareness of the vital support we provide across our community. They also shared information about our Dress for Success Programme, which helps women build confidence and prepare for employment by providing professional clothing and support.

We are always looking for passionate and caring volunteers to join our team. Whether you can give a few hours a week or help at events, your time can make a real difference in the lives of women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
