Didcot Fire Station

Didcot Fire Station Didcot Fire Station committed to serving the local community through proactive preventative work, education and emergency response

Didcot Fire Station is a full-time day-crewed fire station with a compliment of an on-call crew. The full-time staff are comprised of two watches, Red and Blue, who crew one of the fire appliances, call sign JX32P1, with a maximum of 6 personnel. We offer a high level of skills, expertise and equipment to deal with road traffic incidents as well as responding to all other kinds of emergency situat

ions in the Didcot area and beyond. The on-call crew have other careers outside the fire service and respond when required and crew the other fire appliance, call sign JX32P2, with a maximum of 6 personnel. This appliance is a standard pumping appliance and can be found the majority of stations across the county. Alongside the front line fire appliances the station also houses a Hazardous Materials Decontamination Unit, call sign JX32H1 which is crewed by a mixture of full and part time staff as required. This will respond to incidents countywide and across into neighbouring counties should the need arise and provide decontamination for Fire-fighters involved in a hazardous materials incident. Didcot is also the base for the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre and various courses/skills sessions are conducted at the centre throughout the year. They also have a training fire appliance that is kept alongside the operational vehicles here.

Farmers

We know Oxfordshire’s farming community work so hard to protect farms, crops, livestock and machinery, and that preventing fires is already a priority for many. Your farm is your livelihood, and with the hot, dry weather continuing, a few extra precautions can help reduce the risk of fire and limit the impact if one does occur.

A few steps can make a big difference:

βœ… Keep machinery clean, serviced and well maintained
βœ… Make sure emergency services can easily find and access your farm
βœ… Ensure water supplies and hydrants are accessible
βœ… Have contingency plans in place, including fire breaks and water bowsers where available
βœ… Store hay bales, fertilisers and pesticides safely and securely

If a fire does occur, call 999 immediately and provide clear location details to help emergency services respond quickly.

As the weather gets hotter, rivers, lakes and reservoirs can look tempting.
But even on a hot day, the water can be dangerously cold, causing cold water shock in seconds.

Fifteen young people across the country have already lost their lives this summer.

A simple conversation after school or college today could help your child make safer choices and avoid a tragedy in your family.
