If you were around the Community Centre last Friday, you could have been forgiven for thinking we were auditioning for Stars in Their Eyes…

“Tonight, Matthew, I’m going to be…” 🎤

But no! It was DPC staff taking part in Fire Safety & Fire Marshal training, led by Michelle Hay Training. 🔥🧯

It was a really useful session, making sure our staff know what to do in the event of a fire and how to help keep everyone using the Community Centre safe.

Thankfully, no actual fires were involved! 😄

Confidence to Care is running a series of supportive sessions from September to December, covering topics including dementia, planning for the future and grief before loss.

📍 Sessions take place across Cheshire East, including Poynton, Crewe and Congleton.

An update from Cllr Adams: Food Waste Caddy Deliveries – Disley 🍽️

Cheshire East Council is delivering food waste caddies across the borough.

📍 Disley is in Phase 6 of the rollout, alongside a number of other areas - phase 5 has now been started. This means residents in Disley will receive their caddies at a later stage, rather than as part of the current deliveries.

When your caddy arrives:
✔️ Please do not put it out for collection straight away – your food waste collections may not start for several weeks.
✔️ Store it outside with your other bins.
✔️ Read the information leaflet provided.
✔️ Attach the sticker to the lid and add your house number.
✔️ Check your food waste collection start date and collection day on the Cheshire East website once this information becomes available.

Whilst at the Disley & Lyme Horticultural Show on Saturday, we had the opportunity to speak to lots of residents, which was fantastic! It was great to hear your views and have some really useful conversations.

A number of people raised concerns about speeding vehicles on Buxton Old Road, as well as the ‘pinch point’ at the top of the road and the lack of priority signage.

There was a strong feeling that clearer signage would help drivers understand the priority at the pinch point, particularly where vehicles are approaching at speed.

As shown in the infographic below, Disley Parish Council has no jurisdiction over highways, signage or traffic matters. These are the responsibility of Cheshire East Council.

If you have concerns about speeding or the highway arrangements on Buxton Old Road, you can report them directly to Cheshire East Council using traCE: https://trace.cheshireeast.gov.uk/

Disley Parish Council has also raised concerns regarding road signage and speeding and will report the matter again to Cheshire East Council.
