We have some great news!
Play equipment has been installed at both of our parks! 🙌

There is new accessible equipment at Arnold Rhodes including a swing and a roundabout as well as a new adventure house with slide at Newtown 🛝

Tried and tested by the rangers, we had to prize them away from it they were having so much fun 😁

Civic Remembrance Day 🇬🇧

Residents are warmly invited to join us in Disley for the Civic Remembrance Day service next month.

📅 Sunday 8 November 2026

📍 Disley War Memorial, Ram Green

Please arrive by 10.55am to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.

Following the Acts of Remembrance, a Civic Remembrance Service will be held at St Mary’s Church, Disley. 🌹

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Changes to food waste collections are coming this autumn. ♻️

Cheshire East Council is introducing weekly food waste collections, while general waste (black bin) collections will move from fortnightly to every three weeks.

Key dates:
📅 Food waste caddy deliveries – due to be completed by the end of October
📅 New collection calendars – available by mid-October
📅 Weekly food waste collections – starting in late autumn

Disley is included in Phase Six of the caddy rollout, so if you haven’t received your caddy yet, it should be delivered over the coming weeks.

When your caddy arrives, please store it with your bins, read the information leaflet and check the council website for your service start date and collection day. Please don’t put your caddy out for collection until your new service begins.

🌟 Disley’s Community Stars shining bright! 🌟

On Sunday, 20th September, we held our annual Civic Service at St Mary’s Church – a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate some of the people who help make Disley such a special place.

This year’s service focused on the power of small acts of kindness and the importance of treating others with kindness, respect and consideration. It was a particularly fitting theme as we celebrated our Community Star Award recipients and QEII Youth Award winners – people who put those values into action through their time, energy and commitment to our village.

And our QEII Youth Award winners:

We also presented commendation letters to Donna Young and James Cooke, and Disley Primary School Parliament in recognition of their contributions to our community. June Gee was also awarded a commendation letter for her dedication to Disley school dinners but was unable to attend the awards.

From volunteering with local groups and supporting young people, to bringing businesses together, creating activities and helping make Disley a brighter and more welcoming place, every contribution makes a difference.

A huge congratulations to all our award recipients, and a heartfelt thank you for everything you do for Disley. ❤️

Cheshire East People’s Panel (through Cheshire East Council) is inviting people who receive care at home, support a family member or friend, have used care services in the past, or simply have an interest in improving support for older people to share their views.

Cancer screening: it could save your life 🎗️

Cancer can affect anyone, but finding it early can make a real difference.

NHS cancer screening programmes are designed to identify early signs or changes, often before you notice any symptoms. If you receive a screening invitation, please don’t put it to one side and forget about it — take a few minutes to read the information and complete the test or arrange your appointment.

Screening currently includes:
🩷 Breast screening
🩵 Cervical screening
💙 Bowel cancer screening

Lung cancer screening will also begin in Cheshire East in early 2027 for eligible people aged 55–74 who have ever smoked.

And remember, you don't need to wait for a screening invitation if you notice something unusual for you. If you have concerns or symptoms such as an unexplained lump, unusual bleeding, a persistent change in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss or a cough lasting more than three weeks, speak to your GP or healthcare professional.

Please take up your screening invitation when it arrives. It could make a real difference. 💚

🎉 Exciting times at Arnold Rhodes Play Area! 🎉

New accessible play equipment is being installed between Monday 21 and Friday 25 September 2026.

Please note that during the installation there will be limited access to some of the existing play equipment.

We’re really looking forward to the new equipment being ready for everyone to enjoy! ❤️
