🌿 A BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY MORNING AT BRESSINGHAM 🌿

Our Bressingham Farmers’ Market is back this Sunday, 9am–1 pm, and the weather is looking lovely for a wander around the market and the gardens.

Come along for a relaxed Sunday morning, meet our local stallholders and pick up something delicious for breakfast, lunch or the week ahead.

You’ll find:

☕ Freshly made hot coffee
🔥 The grill will be going
🥤 Fresh smoothies
🥖 Lots of fresh bread
🍰 Gluten-free bakes

…and plenty more from our lovely local producers.

And don’t forget — between 9am and 10. 30 you can enjoy FREE access to the Bressingham Gardens with just one purchase from any of our Farmers’ Market stallholders.

So grab a coffee and something tasty, have a wander through the gardens, do a little local shopping and enjoy a slower start to your Sunday.

For more than half a century, Adrian Bloom has shaped Bressingham Gardens into a place that has inspired gardeners from around the world.

This September, we'll be celebrating the launch of his latest book, ‘A Garden Odyssey’, a reflection on a lifetime spent searching for those unforgettable moments in gardens, plants and landscapes.

The morning will bring together local media, friends and supporters for a conversation with Adrian, a walk through the gardens that inspired the book, and the opportunity to discover the stories behind some of Bressingham's most iconic planting.

If you've ever wondered how a garden comes to life, or why certain places stay with us forever, this is a story worth hearing.

This tree is not simply half dead and half alive. It is carrying its own history. The dead half has not become useless; it is still holding the living half upright. The years that no longer produce leaves are still giving strength to the years that do.

And then there is the second tree. It has fallen, yet it has not become irrelevant. Instead of crushing the first tree, it seems to have found a new purpose: together they have created a balance that neither could have achieved alone. It is impossible not to see a quiet metaphor for the way life works.

Perhaps the mistake we often make is believing that only what is new, productive and flourishing has value.

Nature rarely agrees.

The oldest wood is often what gives a tree its strength. The scars tell the story of every storm survived. Deadwood shelters insects, fungi, birds and new life. Even decay is not the end of the story but part of the cycle.

Maybe we are like that too.

We spend so much energy trying to hide the parts of ourselves that no longer feel useful. The dreams that changed. The careers that ended. The versions of ourselves that belong to another season. We call them failures, or mistakes, or simply "the past."

But what if they are the very things that allow the rest of us to keep growing?

The patient grandparent. The traditions that shaped us. Ancient cultures. Old books. Hard lessons. The friendships that carried us through difficult years. None of these may be producing fresh leaves today, yet they continue to support everything that does.

Perhaps wisdom is not found in replacing the old with the new.

Perhaps it lies in recognising which old things still deserve to carry us.

When I stood beneath this tree, I couldn't help thinking that strength isn't always found in the green branches reaching for the light. Sometimes it is hidden in the weathered trunk that seems, at first glance, to have finished its work.

And perhaps the most beautiful part of all is that neither tree is standing entirely on its own. One is alive because it has not forgotten its past. The other, though fallen, continues to offer support.
