The 'Don Valley Cruise' is a place where hopefully like minded car enthusiasts can go and catch up with what's happening in the Hot Rod, American car scene, a place where rodders can meet up with friends and fingers crossed meet friends from way back that used to be in the hobby. What could be better, a cruise-nite, a beer and a burger and meeting up with others; does it get any better?? It can on

ly work if attended, so polish off that wicked ride, pump up the volume on the stereo and have a cruise over on the 3rd Saturday of every month, about 5 o'clock... Frankie & Benny's, next door to the Doncaster Bowl, Leisure Park, Bawtry Road, Doncaster, DN4 5NW... We'll be waiting for yer!

June '06 DVC 'Cruiser of the Month award goes to....

This absolutely gorgeous chopped Mercury truck. I didn't manage to catch up with the owner for any vehicle details, so please, if anybody knows anything, or ideally the owner, then please let me know and I will update immediately.

June '06 Don Valley Cruise...
The weather was right, the cars and people were right, so all in a very enjoyable teatime event for all.
I've noticed at a few gatherings I've been too lately have been somewhat lower on attendees, why, I have no idea?
As it was at Doncaster tonight, the same as Leeds last week, what organisers have to do I'm not sure?
Since we made it clear on the type of enthusiasts we wanted there, it has kept certain people away, that I don't mind, quality rather than quantity plus the di*****ds now seem to stay away.
Tonight's gathering saw some proper quality vehicles there, new faces along with old stalwarts, like myself and Chris Nowak, (who are far to old to be messing with stupid cars), we're all there chatting together and putting the motoring world to rights.
Have a scan through, comment where necessary, and we'll see y'all again next month. 🤟

April 'Cruiser of the Month'.....
The DVC award for this month goes to the owner of this 1940 Chevy coupe.
Originally built and turned into this amazing hotrod by the well known magazine photographer Mike Key in the early 90's, it was then sold on and ended up in the ownership of another well known builder of quality cars, Mr. Steve Fletcher.
'Fletch' then rebuilt the car into his style of Streetrod, after winning many awards and covering plenty of miles, it was then sold to Steve's good friend Phil Gay, the guy who actually painted the car for Steve.
Phil didn't do to many miles in the car before it got laid up due to ill health, where it spent the next 20 years!!!
The dust covers were taken off the car, given fresh fuel and a new battery, and this 90's survivor fired up straight away and ran sweet.
Straight out the garage, onto the motorway, and the next stop was the Don Valley Cruise, not bad eh?
So that's roughly the deserved story of the car so far, and now you can look out for it at as many events as possible in the future, all adding to this '40 Chevrolet's resume'.

April '26...'Don Valley Cruise'.

Not as many attended as I was expecting actually, I thought people would have been chewing at the bit to get out and about after a winter lay up.
Anyway, it was nice to catch up with my friends that were there, and to have a chat with the vehicle owners that did turn out. So hopefully we'll see you all, and more, next month. 👍
