Askern Air Cadets

Askern Air Cadets A uniformed youth organisation for young people of aged 12 (and in year 8 at school) and 20.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets provides young people with the opportunity to do many exciting activities that otherwise they would never have the chance to do. Some of these include flying, gliding, shooting, adventure training, sports and many other diverse activities. Also, within the RAF Air Cadets you will have the chance to develop a range of skills such as teamwork, leadership, discipline, communication, self-confidence among many others.

Teams 1384 & 185 hosted climbing sessions at Awesome Walls in Sheffield yesterday.
Qualified Climbing Instructors, PO Davison & Sgt Hutchinson invited sqaudrons across the Sector to the event.
The cadets ranged from beginners to experienced climbers. The instructors guided the cadets through various techniques to improve their climbing abilities.
All cadets said that they had enjoyed the session and were hoping to continue to work on their NCAS awards.
They were all set a challenge at the end of each session to bring a friend to the next session.
We hope to see you on the next one.

Team 1384 Annual Dining in event occured last night at Owston Hall.
The cadets experienced the traditions of a military formal dinner.
After a wonderful meal and speeches from senior staff, the cadets received a number of awards and promotions.
Team 1384 would like to thank everyone from Owston Hall, for arranging and delivery a fantastic evening.

Last weekend 4 members of Team 1384 travelled to 642 VGS at RAF Leeming to attend the Bronze Wings course.
Having first learnt the essential information for planning a flight, they were then taught how to recognise the symptoms of a stall and what action to take.
Following this they were able to put this knowledge into practice on the flight simulator.
After some instruction and practice they were assessed and all passed.

Tuesday night saw 8 members of Team 1384 trying their hand at a spot of skiing.
Special thanks goes to the team at Snozone in Xscape, the 1384 staff who braved the cold and our Civilian Committee for supporting the event financially.

One of our cadets had the opportunity to attend a week long adventurous training camp during the October half term. Activities included mountain biking, rock climbing and hiking.
This was an unforgettable experience improving leadership and communications skills in a fun and comfortable environment.
