VJ Day — 15 August 🇬🇧🌺

Today, we remember VJ Day, Victory over Japan Day, marking the end of the Second World War in the Far East and the final chapter of a conflict that had cost millions of lives.

We remember the servicemen and women who served across the brutal campaigns of the Far East, often in unimaginable conditions. We remember the prisoners of war who endured terrible suffering, the families who waited and worried, and all those who never returned home.

Their courage, sacrifice and resilience must never be forgotten.

Today is a time not only to remember the fallen, but also to honour the veterans who came home carrying memories that would stay with them for the rest of their lives.

We will remember them. We will remember their sacrifice. We will remember their courage.

🌟 GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR CADETS RECEIVING THEIR EXAM RESULTS TODAY! 🌟

Today is a big day, and we want to wish every one of our amazing cadets the very best as you receive your exam results. 🎓💚

Whatever those results may be, please remember that one set of results does not define you, your abilities or your future.

By being a cadet, you are already developing skills that will stay with you for life, leadership, teamwork, discipline, resilience, confidence and the ability to step up and make a difference.

You are already making a huge difference to your own future and to the communities you serve. We have seen first hand the commitment, determination and courage you show, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.

Whatever today brings, keep believing in yourself, keep moving forward and never forget just how much potential you have. ❤️

Good luck, cadets, Doncaster Armed Forces Community is incredibly proud of you! 🇬🇧🎖️

What an incredible day at the cadet event in Driffield!

It was truly inspiring to watch our cadets demonstrate their exceptional leadership, first aid, teamwork and public speaking skills. Their confidence, professionalism and dedication were outstanding, and they are an absolute credit to Yorkshire and the Humber.

Events like this showcase not only the remarkable potential of our young people but also the life skills, resilience and confidence that the Cadet Forces help to develop.

None of this would be possible without the commitment, passion and countless hours given by our amazing adult volunteers. Their dedication to supporting and mentoring the next generation is invaluable, and we cannot thank them enough.

If you’ve ever thought about giving something back to your community, enjoy working with young people, or would like to develop new skills yourself, why not consider becoming an Adult Volunteer? Your support could make a lasting difference to the lives of young people in Doncaster.

To find out more about volunteering, please get in touch with the Cadet Forces Association. Together, we can continue to inspire, develop and support the next generation.

Today, the Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones, Doncaster’s Armed Forces Covenant Coordinator Teresa Hodgson and the Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, Dame Hilary Chapman, were honoured to attend the Minden Day ceremony at Elmfield Park, where they had the privilege of laying wreaths in remembrance.

Minden Day is a proud and significant occasion, commemorating the courage, sacrifice and enduring spirit of The Rifles and the Regiments that came before them. It is a time to reflect on the extraordinary service of those who have served our country and those who continue to serve today.

Our relationship with The Rifles is one that we value greatly. We are proud of the strong and enduring partnership we have built together and remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting the Regiment, serving personnel, veterans and their families.

On this Minden Day, we remember the past, honour the present and reaffirm our gratitude to all who have served.
