Hey… My name is Stuart!

I’ve been involved with teaching swimming at the centre for over 10 years now. I started out as an assistant (In Water Helper) working with the lower stages and then became a Swim Teacher. I teach a good mixture of group lessons, 1-2-1/2-2-1 and take some of the lessons for children with SEND.

I have a strong passion for teaching kids and believe learning to swim is a must for anyone.

I try to make swimming enjoyable for the kids, so they can develop a healthy relationship with swimming. I don’t want a kid to miss out on making memories just because they don’t feel safe in the water. So if I can make learning to swim enjoyable they will want to come and that consistency is the best thing for progression.

My favourite part of teaching is watching them grow and progress through the stages. I also enjoy the little conversations I have with them on poolside.

I hope to continue teaching children to swim for many more years to come

📢 Inflatafun Cancellations Tomorrow 📢

Unfortunately we have had to cancel both the Aiming High Inflatafun at 12.15pm and the 4-7 year olds Inflatafun at 1.10pm tomorrow due to filming taking place on poolside during those times. The Inflatafun for those aged 8 and above will be going ahead at 2pm as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this but we appreciate your understanding 🙂

We’re incredibly proud of our member Sam, who is heading to Birmingham to compete in the Special Olympics Summer Games from 27–30 August 2026! 🎉

Last month, we hosted a sponsored swim to help support Sam on his journey, and what an incredible effort it was! 💙 Together, Sam and his fellow swimmers completed an amazing 1,915 lengths. The equivalent of swimming the distance between Dorchester and Shaftesbury! 🏊‍♂️👏

The event raised a fantastic £590 to support Sam’s participation. A huge thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make it such a success! 🙌

And now, Sam’s story has been featured on BBC South! 🎥

💦 Swim Teacher Spotlight 💦

We are honoured to have so many fantastic teachers here at Dorchester Swim Academy. 🥳

And we thought it was time to dive a little deeper and get to know the people who help our swimmers in the pool. 🏊‍♀️

Hello... My Name Is Tom 👋

I have been teaching at Dorchester for 2 years now. My favourite stroke is Front crawl as I find this the quickest and most enjoyable. 🥽

I have always had a love for swimming as I take part in triathlons myself. I am going to Venice next year to take part in my first 70.3 Ironman where I hope to qualify in the top 10 of my age group. 💙

As well as this, I love to play cricket. My family (the Joslin family) have been a part of Dorchester cricket club for over 7 decades, and are widely celebrated for all our participation and involvement across the Wessex Internet Dorset cricket League. 🏏

Tom currently has availability in the following lessons. 📅

These fun and intensive courses are designed to help children make rapid progress in a short space of time. 💙
