Our trainer in Scotland, Ailsa, spent an energised morning with East Renfrewshire's Community Learning and Development team. Looking together at best practice when working with young people around substance education. The team took part in the Talk About Cannabis session and learned about child criminal exploitation.

According to the NPCC County Lines report, social media drug lines have grown by 5 fold in one year.

This is where dealers are setting up virtual shops via platforms such as snap chat and tik tok. They use Meems, challenges and have multi buy and special offers, and only target young people. E liquids, cannabis edibles and illicit substances are then often delivered by post or by local runners, who are often teenagers themselves.

The reported number of social media accounts advertising drugs for sale has increased sharply this year. This specific online drug market operates with a broad range of illegal drugs offered for sale, though cannabis is by far the dominant drug offered for sale. Other drugs include: co***ne, M D M A , L S D , crystal m**h, ketamine, unlicensed prescription medications, cannabis edibles or cannabis-based products, and psychoactive substances – they are aimed at ‘recreational users’

Last year, The National Police Chiefs council recorded 89 social media lines, this has grown to 429 lines are being reported by about a quarter of all police forces alone this year.
