Great to welcome Surrey care providers to today's Business Breakfast - a chance to catch up, share experiences and pick up new ideas.

We were especially pleased to welcome MP Helen Maguire for Epsom & Ewell, whose genuine engagement with attendees made a real impact. Helen spoke about her personal commitment to the sector and her support for independent social care providers, and took the time to answer questions around costs, sustainability and the pressures facing the sector. Opportunities for this kind of open and constructive dialogue are incredibly important, and we’re grateful for her time and ongoing interest.

We then heard a compelling presentation from Kay Morley-Cooper, founder of OneCare Platform, who shared insightful reflections on effective leadership in challenging environments, along with practical tips that resonated strongly with attendees.

Our final speaker, Steve Drake of UK Business Mentoring, introduced the benefits of coaching and mentoring for SMEs, offering a fascinating perspective on how structured support can help care businesses strengthen performance and achieve sustainable growth.

Several of our other partners kindly supported the event: Person Centred Software, Care Safety Innovations, Spectrum Purchasing Network, and Howden Insurance Brokers LTD.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning and contributed to such engaged and thoughtful discussions. If you’re not yet a member of the Surrey Care Association but would like to be part of events like this - gaining insight, building connections and having your voice heard - our contact details are in the bio. We’d love to welcome you.

Recognition isn’t about trophies and certificates. It’s about being seen. It’s about being recognised for making a difference.

This is how we boost morale among our care workforce, while raising confidence, and encouraging a sense of pride.

Moments like this from the Surrey Care Awards show how much the care sector values its people. That's why we're starting the new year showing our gratitude!

🏆Look back: Registered Manager of the Year 2025
It was a proud and well-deserved moment for Krasi Petrova of CHD Living, to be named Registered Manager of the Year!

The award sponsored by Home Counties Carers and presented by Lauren Mercer-McGuire.

Krasi’s nomination was a powerful testimony to her enormous impact, with team members describing her as: “Honest, supportive and endlessly compassionate.” One colleague wrote: “You always gave me courage and strength to move forward. You listen to our pain, and you’ve created a team that believes in one another. When that happens, everything works.”

🌟 Congratulations, Krasi, on this well-earned recognition, and thank you to Home Counties Carers for supporting and sponsoring this award.

Let’s look back at the moment we awarded Homebased Care Worker of the Year to the remarkable Liz Prebble of Surrey Choices.

Liz is a long-serving Shared Lives carer whose commitment has transformed the lives of the people she supports. Kumar Gnanakumar of Beritaz Care was proud sponsor of this award.

On receiving the award, Liz said: “I am both surprised and humbled to have won the Care Worker of the Year Home-based Care award, and a big thank you goes to all who have supported me over the years as without this I wouldn’t have achieved it.”

A huge well done to Liz, and a heartfelt thank you to Beritaz Care Care, and Fulcrum Care Limited for sponsoring this important award in the People with Impact category.

December is the start of future business planning for Team Surrey Care. We use the data from our member surveys to inform key priorities for the future. And we couldn't do this without the support and insight of out whole core team and each of our Board members. We go back to basics - flipchart and pens and rich group discussions where we start to think how we can define deliverables to make a genuine positive impact on our members for 2026 and beyond. Here at Surrey Care we have an amazing and highly talented Board comprised of leaders across every aspect of social care who give their time and insight to ensure that what we do is the right thing for our member organisations. Thank you SCA Board! 💚
