Pool our knowledge, protect our future
As climate change intensifies, Scotland is at increasing risk from wildfires. And as the fires that raged across ecologically restored habitat in the Cairngorms and last year’s megafire on Dava’s moorland have shown, our landscapes are vulnerable, howsoever they are managed.
Charlotte Maddix is calling on Scottish Government to convene a National Landscape Resilience Summit, bringing together land managers, emergency services, conservationists, communities and policy makers to pool our knowledge.
We need an honest, practical conversation that turns collective expertise into a joined up plan that protects people and landscapes now, while building greater resilience for the future.
