🏠 WHY THIS MATTERS TO MEDWAY TOO

I’m supporting calls for transparency over large-scale purchases of new homes in Dartford by councils from outside the area.

This isn’t simply a Dartford issue.

Under Local Government Reorganisation, Dartford, Gravesham and Medway are due to become part of the new North Kent authority.

Decisions being made today could affect the housing pressures, assets and financial responsibilities inherited by that new council.

Residents across North Kent already face long waits for suitable social housing. If large numbers of newly built homes are being purchased by councils outside the area, local people deserve to know what is happening and what it means for their communities.

If Dartford is expected to accommodate significant new development putting additional pressure on roads, schools and local services local residents should see a genuine benefit from the homes being built.

This is why transparency matters not just for Dartford, but for Medway, Gravesham and the future of North Kent.

🇬🇧 PUBLIC SAFETY MUST COME FIRST

Our Reform UK Councillor for Cuxton, Halling & Riverside, Cllr William Burvill, raises an important question after reading current Home Office guidance being provided to asylum seekers.

When we’re talking about serious crimes such as r**e and child sexual abuse, the message must be crystal clear.

Obey our laws. Respect women. Protect children.

Reform UK believes Britain must control its borders, enforce its laws and put the safety of the British people first.

The interview also covers his work scrutinising social care, the future of Cuxton, Halling & Riverside under local government reorganisation, and why William believes he doesn’t fit the “usual Reform brief”.

💬 Reform councillors putting local communities at the heart of Medway and giving residents a stronger voice.

REFORM COUNCILLORS – SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Local communities are at the heart of what we do.

Our Reform UK councillors are working with residents, police and council officers to raise concerns and push for action across Medway.

In Cuxton, Halling & Riverside, Cllr William Burvill recently met with a Kent Police Inspector and Medway Council’s Head of Regulatory Services to raise issues residents have reported, including:

🚔 Street racing, speeding & dangerous driving
🏍️ Anti-social motorbikes
🚗 Parking & school safety
👮 Better local police engagement
⚠️ Use of Section 59 powers to tackle anti-social vehicle use

The message is simple: listen to residents, work with the right organisations and keep pushing for action.

Police have also stressed how important reporting is. Every report helps build intelligence, identify hotspots and strengthen the case for resources and enforcement.

📢 Residents can also join Kent Police’s My Community Voice for local policing updates and to have their say on local priorities:

My Community Voice Kent enables Kent and Medway's residents, businesses, and community groups to keep in touch with their local policing teams. Receive updates on your local area directly from the officers themselves.
