All three Medway Labour MPs voted against a motion opposing asylum accommodation plans near Piddington, which also called for Britain to leave the ECHR.

If similar plans came to Medway, would they challenge their Government?

Residents deserve a clear answer.

Anyone else reading this and thinking: is this really the government’s answer to helping people with fuel costs?

Does he expect everyone to jump up and high-five him?

And if people drive further to find cheaper petrol, they could burn through the saving getting there! 😂

A price comparison might be useful, but people need meaningful action to make fuel affordable. What a weak response.

The Home Secretary talks about fairness and generosity. But what does fairness mean to families in Rochester and Strood waiting for social housing, NHS appointments or support for their children?

Britain is a generous country, and that generosity should never be taken for granted. The Government must set clear rules, be honest about the pressure on public services and put the needs of residents first.

Fairness starts at home.

Labour has reopened the UK Resettlement Scheme. Reform UK Rochester & Strood opposes this decision.

The Home Office says around one in four referrals are expected to be Afghan women and girls or Palestinian refugees. But it has given no figure for the annual cap, no cost and no assessment of the impact on local housing and services.

Families here already face long waits for housing and NHS care. Labour needs to put residents first and answer three basic questions: How many people? Where will they be housed? Who will pay?

The announcement does not say whether anyone will be placed in Rochester or Strood. We will press for answers if local councils are asked to take part.

REFORM UK MEDWAY COUNCILLORS PUSH FOR FULL LGR COSTS

Following questions raised by Reform UK councillors, Medway Council has advised that the Labour Leader’s explanation at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting is its response on the cost of preparing for Local Government Reorganisation.

We now know:

• Up to £7 million was earmarked but this does not mean it was all spent.

• Medway’s planned £1 million contribution to the Kent wide programme had not been paid when LGR was paused.

• Central government had covered the programme office costs so far.

However, the council acknowledges expenditure on an original strategic partner, specialist advice and external support without disclosing the actual figures.

Reform UK’s Medway councillors are continuing to push for a full breakdown of what was spent, what remains committed and how much can now be redirected to essential local services.

If there is nothing to hide, publish the recorded payments and commitments.

WE STAND WITH OUR REFORM COUNCILLORS, MEMBERS, SUPPORTERS AND VOTERS

Reform UK Rochester and Strood fully supports Cllr William Burvill in calling out the repeated use of the words “fascist” and “racist” against Reform UK.

We stand firmly behind all our Reform councillors, members, supporters and voters.

Millions of ordinary people support Reform because they want secure borders, equal treatment under the law, safer communities and a government that puts British citizens first. That does not make them racist or fascist.

Many previously voted Labour but walked away after becoming tired of being ignored, insulted and taken for granted.

Political disagreement does not justify smearing an entire democratic party and its voters. Medway Labour should debate our policies and defend its own record not attack ordinary people with disgraceful labels.

We will not be bullied, silenced or ashamed of standing up for our country and our communities.
