The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge starts today! 📖🎸✨

Read to the Beat is here! Delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries and powered by Universal Music Group UK, this year's challenge is all about the wonderful connection between stories and songs, and it all begins today at your local library! Completely free for all children aged 4–11, the challenge invites children to read 6 books over the summer, earning rewards along the way and receiving an official certificate when they complete the challenge.

Libraries across the area have a fantastic programme of events and creative activities running all summer long, giving children even more ways to get involved, stay curious and make the most of their holidays. Take a look at the posters below to see the activities organised for Droitwich Library this summer.

Something magical starts tomorrow in Droitwich Spa ✨
Once Upon a Trail is coming to town, transforming ten windows across Droitwich Spa into a fairytale adventure for little imaginations 🌈📖🌿Read more here: https://bit.ly/4eXTgy2

If your little ones love stories, animals and exploring, pick up a free activity booklet from Droitwich Spa Library, the Heritage Centre or The Crafty Café, then follow the trail of magical windows created by artist Catt Standen. Each window contains hidden words your child can collect to write their very own story 📝💫

FREE, outdoors, creative, screen-free and perfect for keeping them busy during the holidays. The trail will run from 4 July to 1 September.

Once your little ones have completed the trail, visit Droitwich Spa Library to collect your free book and a special treat.
